Townsend was outstanding last night!
Would have liked to have seen that one, but my Comcast service had ESPN2 on the blink. Fortunately, restored today and I am liking seeing Coco play with more confidence.
I am having some interesting feelings about the ESPN commentators this year. I think I’ve been influenced by Sally Jenkin’s piece where she critiqued the McEnroes, particularly John. It has made me realize that he is dialing it in at times. My D also commented that she didn’t think Darren Cahill should be commenting on on Sinner since he couldn’t be objective as his coach and I agree on that one. Finally, I really kind of hate seeing and hearing John Isner. There was a time when I liked him as a player, but that time is long gone and I just plain don’t like him. I’m sorry that things haven’t been going well for Chris Eubanks as a player, but I really do like him in the tv commentary role; so more of him works for me.

despite this, rooting for leylah and venus over taylor’s team in doubles today. guessing endurance was an issue against barbora.

Can we talk about how poor the announcing has been? I hope they get skewered for talking about that woman delivering the racket.
Fritz was so frustrating.
My S was at the US Open and sitting where the camera kept shooting him and the people around him when they were filming Venus serving. He asked if we saw him on camera, but as we weren’t watching, we didn’t see him (but cool that he was able to see her in person, from a distance).
