GRE subject test subscores

Just out of curiosity, will grad schools pay attention to subscores? I took the Biochem subject test, scored a 92nd %tile, but my subscores were a bit uneven. I’m applying to Genetics PhD programs, and my genetics subscore was 99th %tile, while the other 2 were 72nd and 86th. Any thoughts on how that’ll look or if it’ll even be noticed? I know it’s only one of many factors, I’m just curious if it’ll matter beyond my overall score.

My guess would be yes, I mean, if you are a genetics major you probably would not take advanced biochemistry. I say you are good to go.

hm. i did horribly bad on that test. 590 with 74% percentile.

my genetics subscore is 94% though. the other two subject subscores were like in the 60s.

I did worse. 580 with 70% - just found out for the Nov 8 test, don’t know the subscores.

I only sent them to the schools that require it, but am I right in thinking it’s an automatic no? That’s the impression I get online.

To Chibichan, How did you find out your Nov 8 test score? I called up and found out the score is not released till Dec 10th… Thank you!

To bluetypo, I just called in the ETS number (1-888-473-7267) and I was able to get my scores by phone this morning for the Nov. 8 test (I guess they came out early?). I was a little surprised by my score (690 - 95th percentile) considering I ran out of time and didn’t answer a good portion of the experimental section. Good luck!

thank you so much! I called again but still they could only locate my Oct Gre general test score, not the Nov subject one… :frowning: Maybe I have to wait till tomorrow… I used standby registration when I took the Nov test btw…
CONGRATULATIONS for your amazing GRE subject score!!! Good luck with your apps!~ :)

Officially they shouldn’t be out until wednesday, but they are probably just entering the data in now.

Congrats on the score biostudent! Good luck, everyone.
