Today ACT scores came out for the month of October. I got a 35 Composite and across the board (except for a 36 on reading). But, my writing score came out to be a 6/12. Is there a way to withhold my writing score from colleges/have it removed from my report? Is this detrimental for schools that don’t require writing scores?
don’t know whether it is detrimental…but you can’t just send the composite score but not the writing score…
If a school doesn’t require writing scores on their ACT, your writing score will not be used in the admissions process.
You can not send in just your composite without the writing to any schools
Perhaps other things in your application will demonstrate your writing ability. Sounds like an awesome ACT score.
Great scores! Since US News et al do not report the essay scores, colleges probably care more about the other scores… and yours are beautiful! I would submit them, but to mitigate any impression that you have trouble writing, do two things:
- Write a great essay.
- Get a recommendation from a teacher who can speak to your writing skills… unless, of course, you actually do have trouble writing, in which case ignore this second bit of advice.
But your overall score and other component scores are excellent and should be submitted.
