Great....more snow!

No exaggeration here. We usually get one or the other, but not both extreme snowfall and bitter cold. And we often get a week long respite between storms. This is just unrelenting and it’s only early February. I think the winter of '93/94 was similar wrt snowfall & storms, however it wasn’t so bitter. We have sucked down more heating oil so far this winter than all of last season.

I went to college in Wisconsin and I feel like I’ve returned.

NJ here.
My coworker mentioned something about POSSIBLY 30 inches coming our way Sat through Monday.

I surely do hope that’s an exaggeration!

What hype? What…? Here in NW IN it’s all quite real. In the middle of another storm right now. 31 days of measurable snowfall since mid-December. School is still on for today, but there won’t be many kids there.

Done with it I am. FL next week.

The hype comes in when the actual temperatures are overlooked in favor of squawking about wind chill.

We have way too much weather – I can’t get deliveries into the shop. People are amazed that my store is running out of necessities. Well, we normally get weekly deliveries, on a fixed schedule, and if we can’t get them, we are going to be out of the stuff I order every single week. Like dog food.

I had 2 deliveries scheduled for today. One pushed off a day as of 5 pm last night, the other claimed they were coming. That’s nice. Store is locked and no one will be there to open it before at least noon.

Considering January was the snowiest month in Detroit since they started keeping records, it isn’t just hype or exaggeration for us. It’s a very rough winter- and we have been spared a couple of the big storms that have gone just south of us. S did have school today but I’m working from home after seeing the traffic maps going into downtown. It’s not worth the drive.

We already have at least four new inches and it’s snowing still. Guess I should clear the driveway…round one!

At my house expecting a foot of snow but I’m in Ft. Lauderdale this week and it will being in the 80’s today. Hoping the storm expected on Sunday for NE doesn’t prevent me from flying home Sunday night.

Snow in south central Wisconsin hasn’t been the problem. We have had plenty but nothing like the 101 inches in 2009. Cold has been the issue. This has been the coldest winter in the ten years I have been here. It has also become dangerous for us as we age. I have fallen twice, and my wife slipped on the ice and dislocated her shoulder three weeks ago. It came out again on Friday by simply using her arm to push off of a seat. We are getting too old for this. “We’ve got to get out of this place”.

Woke up to at least a half a foot this morning and it’s still snowing at a fast rate. Husband snowblowed and by the time he finished, there were 2 to 3 inches on the spots he started.

They lifted the level 3 at 5:30 - foolish mistake - people had to get on the roads to get to work and there are accidents galore. In the last five minutes they just put it back to a level 3 - great, now you have all these people either at work or still trying to get to work, and now you are calling it illegal to be on the roads???!

Emilybee, enjoy EVERY ray of sunshine and please, enjoy a ray of warmth for each of us!!!

We got about 10 inches of snow on Monday but right now it’s a real wintry mix and making a crust on the snow without melting anything. Does not bode well for powerlines and tree limbs. I just went outside to add some food to my bird feeders and walked right on top of the snow that yesterday I sunk into.

The harsh winter is helping Florida tourism now. In Florida we salt margaritas, not sidewalks. Come on down!

<a href=“Winter's misfortunes help improve Tampa Bay's tourism”>http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/tourism/winters-misfortunes-help-improve-tampa-bays-tourism/2164178

We had about 7-8" of snow on the ground at 7:30 this morning In central CT. Since then it keeps vacillating between snow and sleet. The latest forecast is that Sun/Monday’s expected storm may not be as bad as originally forecast. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Chanelling sunshine and warm temps to all but you have to take the humidity, too.

I still want to know about this over-exaggeration… someone has clearly not been in my front yard for the last two months.

Good to hear about weekend storm. I need to be home before one of my prescriptions run out. This was an emergency trip to Florida and I didn’t even think about the possibility of it running out before I could get home!

I thought that I would post this link of a winter school closure that was sent to parents. It should make you smile! We are in Florida now, I think our son has given up clearing the driveway at home. http://wtkr.com/2014/02/03/is-this-video-the-funniest-school-closings-message-ever/

It’s not exaggeration here. It’s the worst winter I remember and it seems as if it’s never going to end. Another 8" last night. No school again today. I do care more about wind chill than temperature. People who live in town don’t realize how much worse it is on a flat plain with 20-40 mph wind and nothing to break it up. It’s pretty pathetic when it’s 14 degrees and we think it’s “warm”…Adding insult to injury is the propane shortage and cost. Many people here shut down the furnace 3 weeks ago and are relying on electric/kerosene heaters in a room or two.

I’m guessing we have about 10 inches. I cleared the flat part of the driveway. It took about 1 1/2 hours with our big snowblower. The last half hour, i was getting pelted with sleet on the face. Not comfortable!

Okay. You are making me feel bad about complaining that it was -9 this morning when I left for work! :))
At least I didn’t have 8 inches of snow to shovel! We only had about an inch which was light and fluffy because it is so cold. I know that my son who is going to school in CT asked for warm clothes from Santa this year. I think that they were a good investment given the weather that you have been having on the East Coast!
