I am looking for colleges and I love Middlebury, UChicago, Swarthmore, and Brown, but as you can see all of them are pretty selective. I am not saying I won’t make it in, yet I would like to have a couple of safety schools to fall back on. I would still like it to be a smart, small college. My intended major would be either Russian, German, Slavic, or Chinese. Thanks.

Oberlin is a notch less selective than those 4, and in the past has had some strong language programs (in Chinese and Japanese at least). Check it out as a potential “match”.

Your state university is likely to be among your best safety school choices.
