so i recently found out that my great-uncle taught Art History at UCLA and UC Berkeley, and i was wondering if that can help me ? he taught there for a long time, but is now retired…

help you with…

there are so many professors, researchers at cal (as well as UCLA i am sure)and admissions is so busy with tens of thousands of apps rolling in, etc that i doubt they would make that connection (especiially if ur not planning on art history)…

but you never know.

if your scores, gpa, essays are decent enough that you would bother to apply to these institutions why would you worry about this. wouldnt you rather feel that you get in based on your own merits?

Jointhesith: <offtopic>I will NEVER turn to the Dark Side</offtopic>

doesn’t matter to uc’s unless he was a really really big shot…

^If you know what I meannnnnn…

won’t help with uc, will help with privates iirc

ehhh it was a nice to think it could help. i mean my grades / app. is solid but it’s nice to have an extra boost.

and hey, the dark side is cooler…ahah

No guys seriously. I think Jointhesith has a very legitimate point. I hate when people immediately shoot down the idea and i feel like people don’t look into it with enough care. I think with evidence presented we can all agree Jointhesith is correct and that people should not just put down his ideas. Of course the dark side is cooler. They get that cool blue electric shock thingy that like kills the jedis.

^Jedi is singular and plural. Jedi never has an s added, though in cases of possession it can have an 's (e.g. the Jedi’s lightsaber)

One of the great things about berkeley is that it doesn’t let people in because of things like that. No special treatment for legacy or even people who donated large amounts of money to the university.
