Greek Islands Cruise

We’d like to take a small ship cruise around the Greek Islands. Has anyone had any experience with any of the cruise lines? I don’t need luxury. I’d like a cruise that is more education, cultural experience oriented rather than the run of the mill. I’m primarily interested in ancient ruins and historical sites.

I looked at Voyages to Antiquity cruises. Has anyone here ever been on one of their trips?

Thanks for your help. This is a well traveled group so I thought I’d put this out there.

This is on my bucket list, so I’ll reading along with the OP.

I’ve been looking forward to this too, so I hope someone answers! A Windstar cruise to the Greek Isles really appeals to me, if we could get a good deal, of course. The National Geographic cruise tours sound a lot like what you are looking for. Wonder if they go to the Greek Isles. They are crazy expensive, though.

Please take me with you!

Fodors.com has a lot of very well-traveled folks. Their forum lets you list your price range and interests and you tend to get a lot of very well-informed replies.

Not sure about a cruise, but I would like to spend a few weeks on Mykonos; longer than the typical tourist run through, but not long enough to get totally bored.

Make sure your cruise stops in Ephesus (Turkey). It has one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and it is truly awe inspiring.

Thanks all for the suggestions, but we’ve decided on Spain, instead.
