greeks

hey can anyone give me a low down on the greek life at davis? if u have any info on the specific sororities that would be great.

thanks!

i don't know much, but during welcome week and rush and stuff, sororities don't have alcohol at parties. not sure why. it's just the frats.
i don't know what you want to know, lol

Greek life at UC Davis is awesome. Greeks at UC Davis have raised more than $110,000 for philanthropic causes and have completed more than 10,000 hours of service towards the community. In general, Greek life offers the largest leadership development program for college students in the nation and is the largest not-for-profit student landlord in the nation (outside of colleges themselves).

For the sororities specifically: all 8 of the Panhellenic sororities are awesome. Even though the houses have different symbols, colors, founders, and philanthropic causes, they are all very diverse and have many different types of girls. I recommend you check out University of California - Davis, PHC to find out more information about sorority recruitment! I am in a Panhellenic sorority on campus and it has definitely enhanced my college experience in ways I could never imagine. I definitely wouldn't have heard about my current internship at a law firm in Washington DC had I not heard about it through my sorority!

And as a side note to Hella's comment: sororities have very strict rules about alcohol--it's forbidden in the sorority houses themselves and sorority members are forbidden to be under the influence of alcohol at official sorority-sponsored functions (ex: philanthropy events, etc). Members know that they are representing their organization at all times, and as such, are obliged to represent it in a positive manner.

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions!
