"Green" at NU

Hi, all!
I was recently accepted as a theatre major, and I couldn’t be more excited!
I plan on picking up Environmental Science as a second major in Weinberg. I talked to a couple of professors about opportunities to study here at NU, and I got really psyched. Now, it’s time to talk to my parents.
I love renewable energy (solar, wind, you name it), and I’ve always been involved. I have solar panels and a geothermal heat pump; additionally, I’ve had an internship at a solar panel installation company. That’s just a little sampling.
My parents want to make sure that I’ll have excellent environmental options in order to ensure post-graduation career placement. What opportunities will I have to be involved outside of the curriculum? I already know a little bit about ISEN; what are the major benefits of being involved there? I’m thinking during school as well as post-graduation.
Thank you so much!

My DD sounds similar to you, in her interests. She entered NU as a Theater major, and picked up additional majors in Env.Sci. and Poli.Sci. While attending NU, she was involved in SEED, and was one of the students who approached the Administration about establishing a green-themed dorm. This dorm is still there today-I believe the name is GREEN.
She has since graduated, and her first job was as an intern in the White House working for the Secty of Environment. She then secured a job working in the Senate on Environmental Issues and Budget Issues.
She attributes her breathe of majors and extra-curriculars to her initial placement with the White House.
Congratulations on getting accepted into Theater!!

The solar car team is great and you don’t need to be an engineer to be involved!

@APOL WOW! That’s incredible! Thanks for sharing!!

@arbiter213 Looking into it now-- looks amazing!! Thank you!
