Q. I would like to purchase an e-Ticket for my son or daughter but cannot do so. Why is this?
A. e-Tickets are available only for purchasers where the credit card holder is traveling. To purchase tickets for someone else, use the Gift Ticket Order process for Will Call or Tickets By Mail ticketing.

Has anyone had trouble buying tickets for their sons/daughters? I want to buy a greyhound ticket so I can get to Boston, but I would be using my parents credit card. Suggestions please?

2 options i think – one, request the ticket be sent by mail if there is enough time (but then i think you can’t get the best rate). two - you can buy it as a gift ticket - which means an extra fee is applied.
oh - maybe a third – do you have a mastercard or visa atm/debit card in your name? many can be used just like a credit card - i don’t know for sure whether or not that would work, but i know in other situations of on-line purchases, my d has been able to use a debit card like a credit card.

no, i don’t know why they do this.

also - be aware – i don’t think that buying a ticket on-line guarentee you a seat on the bus you want. i was there once and after loading two buses full, they told the hand full of people remaining that they had to wait for the next scheduled bus – which wasn’t that long a wait, they do run fairly frequently – but just so you know – – as far as i could tell the only distinction among the passengers was when they got on line, not the type of ticket they had.

This is a prime reason that I started to send my S back and forth to Boston by Amtrak. No aggravation over purchasing tickets for him using my credit card and he has never had a problem with boarding the scheduled train.

S has his own credit card and uses it to purchase plane tickets and other things.
You need to produce the credit card that was used to purchase the plane ticket when getting your boarding card.

D books her travel using an AmEx card in her name but on my account. It’s also her “In Case of Emergency, Break Glass” card and she has been extremely scrupulous in its use.
