Someone is probably working on a study trying to prove that washing a grilled steak down with some brew reduces cancer risks… I’m sure there will be a lot of eager to sign up test subjects. ;)

I prefer marinating the cook

If you consume grilled meat about couple times a months, then, I do not believe there is a great difference. We do not like to monkey around with it, we just take it out of store packaging and slap it on a grill for about 10 min. We do it about 2 times / month. Frankly, I would not care to have it at all if my H. would not. But he likes it. For me, it has to be perfect, otherwise I will not eat it at all. That includes, nothing to be added to it, I eat it with wasabi. I love my beer also…separately from meat. But I add juice to my beer. My other concern is what happen to blood while you are marinating. I love stake with the blood dripping from it.

@MiamiDAP juice to your beer?!?!? What type of juice? Maybe a lemonade (shandy) in the summer?

All these carcinogens in grilled food studies – how do they grill the food? I wonder if it’s from lighter fluid and charcoal briquettes more than anything else. Do the studies specify? We always used hardwood charcoal with no chemicals.

Raw meat marinated in beer, you mean, then cooked. In my household, grilled meat and beer are kept a safe distance apart until they hodgepodge in my stomach.

Sschickens, tomato or clamato juice in beer is delicious, makes it tangy. You can justify that you are getting your vegetables as well!

@GA2012MOM Thanks - what’s the ratio? 2/3 beer? Might have to give it a try!

That sounds about how I would make it but of course it would just be to your taste.

Grilled meat goes well with almost anything! :)

As for the beer…depends on the type…would enjoy it combined with grilled meat. :)

I listened to an “expert” discussing this the other day. He said you could marinate in olive oil and still see a reduction in nano grams. He also said the worst thing you can do while grilling is to grill well done or char the food.

Do not mess with my steak.

It is high temperature cooking like pan frying or open flames that creates chemicals in the meat that are cancerous to mice. Still ongoing debate on effect on people.

I loved the marinated cook post…laugh out loud. Thanks for the chuckle.
