I throw a couple of boneless chicken beasts on the grill whenever I’m grilling steak or whatever, just because a couple of chicken breasts in the fridge means easy cooking the next night. However, boneless chicken breast is really too dry to grill or roast to perfection. So, BBQ chicken (breast, thighs, or wings) is always bone-in, skin on for the grill.

I prefer boneless breasts but still with the skin on. Or if my youngest is home I grill cutlets since she likes her chicken skinny.
Mom2collegekids- I prefer to bake my bone in breasts in the oven. If I am doing BBQ chicken I will bake it in the oven with spices in foil with pineapple juice all sealed up. Before serving I will put it on the grill and baste with the BBQ sauce.
