I hate these wasps!!! Got stung by them again today while mowing the grass.

You really don’t know there is a nest until it is too late. And they come after you in group. Got three of them today.

One time back when I was wearing a pair of long pant cutting the grass. Got so many them on the leg. It swollen up so much I could hardly took the pant off.

The doctor told me wasp stings are cumulative - one would get a worse reaction to any additional sting. The one on my leg this time wasn’t too bad because I kill it first. One of them got my finger really good - it is twice the size now. The worst is the one got under my T-shirt.

Found on line that these wasps only be active July to August. Anyone else got stung this season? How do you avoid them?

We dont have any lawn, but we do have mud wasps by the pond, i like them, they are fun to watch.

I did get into a hornet nest last year & had to go to the ER when I went into shock ( nine stings) but they havent been back- our regular honey, mason & native bees are well mannered.

Dad II you need to get an epi pen and keep it with you, because if you get stung someplace other than your extremities it could be bad news.

Hand swells like a melon and the pain wake me up several times last night. In other words, this time the reaction is much more profound than previous stings.

Any remedy known to help release the pain and swelling? Don’t think it is ER bad.

Yes, the dermatologist of the family does recommend antihistimes such as Benedryl and even Zyrtec to help reduce allergy symptoms, including swelling, itching, pain. If it gets really bad, you can ask the doc for some prednisone (the sledgehammer). I almost had to resort to that once when I got a bad sting and it wasn’t improving.

Agree that having a twin-pack of epi-pens is a good idea if you’re starting to get bad reactions from stings. Each pen is only good for about at 15-20 minute drive and you need to get to an MD or urgent care or ER before it wears off (which is why they are often sold in twin packs, to give you more time to get to an MD).

I have also gotten stung by these wasps when mowing the lawn. Multiple stings each time. Every season the nests move. Luckily we’re having a bit of a drought, so no need to mow often.

uses the Ice pack on the swelling hand - not seems to help much. resisting antihistamines for the time being because a big drinking party tonight.

All three stung areas are swelling now. The hand area is red and felt warm. However, no sight of any infection like last time. Will continue with ice (beer bottles) until tomorrow.

Going to get a can of wasp killer tomorrow and destroy them for good.

How about numbing creams? Our neighbor used them when getting insulin shots and tests. Not sure if they’re OTC at pharmacy? Sorry you’re in such pain. It sure sounds nasty!

1/2 way through the party, it becomes very clearly that my wounds do not like all the drinking. Both hand and leg swell up big time. I could not even drive home because the whole hand swell up so much. Most of the people told me to go to ER right away.

At home now drink a lot of water. If the swelling persists tomorrow morning, I will take some antihistamines then.

The swelling is nothing I have seen before. The whole hand is like a dumb bell.

Unless you go into anaphylactic shock before then. Please take some benadryl and ask a family member to check on you in a few hours. It’s cheap and effective. ER is cheaper than a funeral home, should you need to make a choice…

I should have warned you.
Your liver processes poisons and it was already overworked processing the wasp stings.
Add alcohol & it probably slowed it down.
I think you should go to the Er.

Would also agree that ER is where I’d go. Best not to mess around when you have the toxins from 3 stings + alcohol in your system. They can tell you to go home or treat you and release. Better safe than sorry!

I hope you are feeling better today, if not, you should go see a doctor. I am very surprised you were drinking alcohol after so many stings. You can get aloe vera plant at any garden stores.

Hafta to be careful in your yard with wasps and bees getting in your open soda or beer can and a wasp sneaking into the can and when you take a swig to cool off you end up with wasp inside your mouth or throat stinging you–happens a lot to people while mowing yards etc. in Florida.
