Thought of one more: Cat Stevens. I think he did about four shows a couple of years ago and I heard they were phenomenal.
I was a little disappointed by Jimmy Buffet (early 80s at the Hollywood Bowl). Finally, saw Richard Thompson just recently - he really fun to see in person.
The concert I’d like to go to is John Prine. I wish I could get in a time machine and see The Who from the Keith Moon days.
Of contemporary stuff - so much I haven’t seen, but maybe The Milk Carton Kids, or Mumford and Sons.
I’d also love to see Neil Young. Although my love for his music is still going on, my feelings for him have gone down. I read he left his long term wife, partner, co-musician for Darryl Hannah. I realize things happen. But…
I’m heading to the Classic East Concert in NYC in July. Seeing the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Journey, Earth, Wind and Fire, and the Doobie Brothers. My son bought us tickets to the Roger Waters’ concert in Boston in September. I last saw Pink Floyd 45 years ago in CA, the same day I got out of the Marines. I barely remember that night and got on the red eye flight to Boston. A stewardess took great care of me.
I saw Jackson Browne last year with his band. This year I saw him play an acoustic set with just a guitar player. The funny thing was he was very talkative this time as he had attended the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame dinner the night before and seemed reflective.
@mathmom John Prine is touring this summer/fall so you definitely have your chances!
@gouf78, I think that tour with Elton John and Billy Joel was called Face off. I saw them at Nationals Park. I didn’t have great seats, but it was fun.
I think I saw John Prine in about 1982.i just went because someone asked if I wanted to go.
This thread made me look up concerts near home, at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia Md. my H said no to Jackson Brown and Willy Nelson. I was going to get tickets for Sarah McLaughlin and Paul Simon for this Friday, but it looks like I need to have Facebook to buy them. $ 175 each… ouch, but H said he’d like to go, and we can consider it an early Father’s Day present.
Heading to Fenway Park in Boston to see Dead and Friends with John Mayer in June. It is all living Greatful Dead members with John Mayer as the guitarist because Jerry Garcia died. My H and S are going to Boston to meet D2 and her bf, who live there, and D1 and partner who will be coming up from NYC to attend the concert.
My entire nuclear family is going to rock out to the Dead!!
@1214mom Facebook shouldn’t be needed. You should get sent from the venue website right to Ticketfly.
Simon and Garfunkle. At Red Rocks. In the 20th row. No rain but I’d be okay in September with the air a little nippy.*
A concert at Hollywood Bowl, any concert, is on my bucket list. I’d actually prefer it to be a symphony concert or classical concert.
*Yes, I know they don’t perform together, but they are not dead and they could make an exception for me and do another final concert, because I’m that special.
Here’s my thing about concerts. I ask my husband if he’d like to go. If he says yes I buy two tickets. If he says no I buy two tickets and take someone else.
I thought seeing Dylan and Neil Young were disappointing when they moved away from including acoustic. I saw the late Leon Russell about 12 or so years ago at a very intimate small venue, very disappointing as he literally did not say a word between songs and seemed very distant. Saw Bruce Springsteen last year and he was great!
Would love to see Todd Rundgren again, Roger Waters new tour, Steely Dan, Hall and Oates, Tom Waits, Rag n’ Bone Man.
I really wanted to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and I have, most recently last year. That was a good show. Don’t know who else I’d like to see, maybe Arlo. I wish I’d seen Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler.
Have seen Todd Runddgren several times in recent years. The concerts were great,!
Saw Neil Simon alone. Concert was great.
We saw U2 on current Joshua Tree tour- they are still amazing
Would like to see Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles (showing my age…)
I would love to see Fleetwood Mac too! I saw Stevie Nicks a few years ago and she was great I love it that some of these older artists are still out there, wonderful as long as they are still putting on great shows.
I would love to see Van Morrison and Tom Waits in concert.
I wish I had seen Joe Cocker in concert.
Lady Gaga, by herself and also with Tony Bennett.
Another comment on Bob Dylan. I saw him at the Boston Garden about 10 years ago. He changes the melodies of all his best known songs so that it’s hard to recognize them!
I have made a point of going to concerts when a performer or group comes to town because there might not be another chance. We probably go to about 6 concerts a year. Very glad to have seen Leonard Cohen a few years ago. I guess I would like to see the Rolling Stones someday My husband would like me to see Nine Inch Nails with him, but I am not such a big fan. (I am always happy to see Wilco again and again and again!)
