Growing out my hair - need help!

First of all, thank you so much for the Einstein hair link. It made me laugh out loud, literally!

Covid hair is a real thing. I had my usual warm auburn root cover up done the first week of March, and then embraced the months at home without a visit to my stylist as an opportunity to embrace the salt and pepper sprouting out of my head.

Two weeks ago I got a trim and some ashy brown auburn foils to blend the ashy roots and warm auburn ends. I’m going for a natural gray grow out now. Right now I look like a calico cat with every color except blond on my head.

Back to the original questions, try looking for social media support groups. Seriously, there are groups for people “embracing their gray”, and there are people posting photos of themselves with amazingly cute hair cuts and extensive knowledge of how to control their white / gray / salt and pepper / fine / course / thick / thin / straight / wavy / curly / frizzy … natural hair.

Silver revolution, silver sisters, grey ombré, are examples of such groups, and then there are specific people who have sites with a wealth of info about products, cuts, etc.

I’m looking forward to not worrying about future major events taking place too close to my root appointments.

@abasket sort of the feeling of having a hat on your head hot…

The hairbands I have are just what I could find at the CVS, so recommendations are welcome.

The hairbands have elastic on one side and not on the other, so they do not necessarily have the ability to hold down all the hair that needs to be held down.

One of the headbands is a light paisley design and the other three are black.

The lighter design is more flattering.

You could try some headscarfs or head wraps. If you google it there are lots of Pinterest boards etc with ideas!

@fendrock , maybe look for something that is stretchy, but wider - I sort of can’t stand the ones with “grip” - not comfortable!

I love these - you might be able to find something similar locally. Some are more solid colors. Depending what you like.

I am currently rocking the hair in the old-lady-style photo that @fendrock posted above in #15. My usual bob has grown to decent pony-tail length, so I hold it up with a Hello Kitty grabbing thingy. I don’t trust DH to trim my now nearly chin-length bangs, so I rooted around the stuff in DD’s room and found two bobby pins and three odd small hair clips (I think one might be a fish???). These allow me to keep the wild bangs out of my face during the classes I teach in Zoom. If I ever do get back to the beautician, my students won’t know who I am.
