First sorry for posting in harvard post…I know this is not the best place to upload the post.
I did not want to post so detail, but yeah, it won’t be that harmful.
I go to public high school (soph.) and probably apply for governor school of sciecne and mathematic for junior and senior year. My goal is to study premed for Princeton.

My accomplishment…
class rank: 4/600
4.0 GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.92
Sophomore class vice president
Took most rigorous class as much as possible…
Got 5 on my first AP exam in fresh year.
Year-round competitive swimmer.
Preparing for SCMTA (most competive piano competition in South Carolina) and I have good chance of getting 1st/2nd place. I have been playing piano for long long time…

Why am I asking question?
I don’t know. I guess I wanted to feel more confident…And I have so many choices I have to make from right now. I probably will apply to governor school…which I will have to give up swimming…but whatever…
Reason to go to GSSM:
GSSM is top 10 public high school in nation.
If I go to governor school, I will have more confident when I apply to top universities such as Harvard, Princeton…
I will study my best
If I go to governor school I will run for Junior class president, and Student Body President in senior year.
Hopefully I will get in governor school first.

If I not go to Governor school:
I probably will loose confident when I apply to top school such as Harvard, Princeton.
But I can swim and maybe will try to swim at university…(but probably not possible).
Almost nobody get into Harvard/ Princeton and top school in my public school even if you are class valedictorian with class average of almost 100 (I know it is insane…)
My senior friend who were first in her class with 500+ kids with grades average of 100 on all her class did not get into top school.
I would still run for president anyway.
I probably stop playing piano since I have to study…but I will shoot for 1st/2nd for state piano competition…in soph year.

What do you think…? Am I on right track?
I felt kind of angry with my class rank…but yeah…who is first second third in my class study much harder than me…they will get angry if they don’t get 100 on their overall grades…compare to I get like 97s 98s some 96s… I don’t know I will do my best…And I swim everyday in swim team since I love swimming…And real dream was to swim in Princeton…And…if you worry the fact that I will run for leader just because I want to go to top college…it is not I enjoy being leader and absolutely do my best
Ah…swimming…haha

You’re saying that, by “working hard,” you’ll get into the top 10 school.

You’re saying that, by “working hard,” you’ll be picked as a school officer.

Okay.
I can kind of accept that, though if you really want to reach these goals, I’d say you need to work on your grammar.
Like…
seriously, you grammar sucks.

Ironically, I happened to stumble across this website. I am a senior at GSSM. I just skimmed the comments. Things to consider…
GSSM goes far beyond academics and is a great experience
GSSM is very tough, you will have to work very hard to maintain an A.
GSSM opens other opportunities.

things to also consider…
High prestige schools do not care what school you come from. They will expect you to still have very high grades, so you must work very hard to keep your grades high if you come here. (not impossible, but tought)

Lastly… and this is just a personal opinion…
There are other great schools besides Princeton, Harvard, etc. Although schools such as Princeton open many opportunities, it will not be the end of the world if you do not go for there. It’s not so much about where you go, it’s what you do when you get there. You will always have attempts to work hard in undergrad and try again in grad school. You can be successful anywhere you go to school if you work hard…

Hehehehehehehe thanks!!! Of course I agree what you are saying…but again it is just controversial thing. I once agreed about what you said…Then I do realized it would be nice to be such prestigious student:))))It just goes back and forth…haha:) It’s determination I think.:)

You shouldn’t be running for offices to boost your resume, though I’m not sure if that is your motive. Do what you love passionately and all will fall in line.

davidlaboza<<<Of course,I ran because I enjoy being leader…And it happens to be that way… the fact that it may be beneficial…for application…I had no intention to run just because of college thing…

Just a word of advice, “confident” is an adjective to describe a person, the word u r looking for is “confidence” which is the noun, u know, when u said that u r lookin for “confident”

Anyways, I do not mean to be picky but I think ur idea of changing school would be beneficial if it allows u to take more challenging courses than what ur current high school offers, remember Harvard want to see WHAT u did, not WHERE u did them.

And lastly, I think ur extra curriculars are very good, they make u kinda lopsided, u know, towards Swimming and Piano so dont give them up, Ivy Leagues love the commitment, especially if u r that good

Hope that helps and try taking some courses for ur Engliah grammar skills, Harvard wants u to be fluent in English
