Hmm. That’s a good point, plzaccept. Also, there are 1-year and 2-year GTs. You’ll have to see in your letters which one you got, if that’s what you’re getting.

Hope so!

hey, that was from years ago. I think they just reworded ours

ya i know…i really hope it is a “real” GT offer

It could be reworded, certainly, but fyi diehldun’s quote at the opening of this thread is from last year at this time. He is a 1-year GT, like my S.

I do think this is what your online notification means, though. grantortue–you live in NYS, right? You might get your letter tomorrow, or maybe Monday. We live so close to Ithaca (same region of NYS) that my S got his letter the next day, but you’re a little farther away than that, as I recall…

I really hope so too. If this isn’t a GT, I’m going to feel so stupid. I already told all my friends I got into Cornell for next year, haha.

^^^ me 2 dtop hah!

yeah Dr. Mom, I’m in the HV, so I should get it tomorrow or wednesday. This better be it, or I’m going to be really, really upset.

^^Sorry, grantortue! I think my S’s RD came on a Friday last year, so I was thinking today was Friday when I wrote that. Anyway, I do think things look good. I hope you’ll “report” back when you get your letter! You know from reading this thread that we think a GT offer is a pretty good thing around here! I’m cautiously excited for you and all the others who received that note in their online decision!

Can anyone confirm this? I got the same thing:

Within the next few days you will receive a letter from the undergraduate college to which you applied. In this letter, you will learn that the college is offering you a transfer option. Please read the letter carefully and contact the college directly if you have any questions.

me 2 ! I told my mom that “dr.mom” would give her the parent’s perspective of this, so I’m counting on that letter!

Can anyone call the admissions office? I’m a wuss

ill call tomorrow, they’re closed now

Closed until April 3rd. Some of us should get the letter tomorrow, and we’ll know more then.

^The Admissions Office is probably closed now, tnn01. It’s after 6 p.m. Cornell time.

^^grantortue–I’m still here if your mom has any questions from another parent going through this crazy process. I’ll be checking this board regularly probably until my S gets to Ithaca, hopefully in August–ha–maybe even after. I’ve taken an interest in the process and know the confusion getting this kind of offer has on students and their families. I’d like to help if I can because this board has been such a help to us!

whats the difference between guaranteed transfer option and just transfer option?

Dr_Mom, I can’t believe how fast 1 year has gone by! This thread has lasted far longer than I thought it would.

So apparently April 9 is we get an e-mail explaining how to (later) check our GT decisions? I just wish the decisions would be released already; at my current school we’re already registering for next year’s classes, etc., and I’m getting so fidgety. Dr_Mom, you and your son should be much more relieved, as he explicitly met all the GT requirements…

if it says in your letter you have a transfer option, we are all thinking that it is almost certainly a guaranteed transfer. All you have to do is maintain a 3.0 cum. in certain courses and you’re in for 09’. If that’s what you got, congrats!

dr mom- Thanks so much! honestly, the best help comes from this board. I know after I end up at cornell, i’m still going to be on here, helping the confused seniors as i was/am now. please log in after august !

diehldun–I know; can you believe a year has gone by, and we’re still posting on this thread? Ha. Well, it’s a nerve-wracking process, and I’m so glad you started the thread, diehldun–THANK YOU!!! You can see how we’re now moving into the ‘next generation’ of this thing! I want to thank Figgy, too (newbies–Figgy is a 2010 GT who’s now finishing his first year at Cornell after successfully transferring last fall–you’ll see a lot of his posts in this thread). His enthusiasm helped us a lot! Thank you for the kind words about my S’s meeting the requirements, diehldun. We’re hopeful, but there’s one more hurdle with the final grades for the semester. The pressure is different now, though. It’s more like keeping it than earning it, now. I’m so interested to hear how you make out. If you don’t get in, I’m going to drive up there and stage a protest! :D

grantortue–I’d hate it so much if I steered anyone wrong, so I do really hope the note means that you’ve got a GT coming your way! I know you’ll let us know for sure. The others on the board who live out of state will appreciate hearing from you when you get your letter, since you live in NYS. You might get yours before they get theirs. Like I say, I’m cautiously optimistic that there will be good news in your letter. Still, it might be good to stay off the ceiling (ha) until you see it in print, just to be doubly positive!

I probably will stay with the board after August, just as Figgy still stops in once in awhile to check on us! It’s been nice to hear how his transfer experience has been going now that he is at Cornell, etc. I could report on that for my S.

grantorture…I hope you do have a GT waiting for you!

To all of you…I don’t see myself leaving this forum anytime soon…even though I’m graduating. I’ll always be here to answer transfer questions about anything…well, as long as I can post it publicly :-)

thanks dewdrop! I should find out tomorrow in an e-mail, so I will def. post the final decision on the GT thread first and foremost before any other thread :)

grantotue, can u do me a big favor and PM watever email they send u?
