YEAAAAA DR. MOM !!! I’m So Happy for your S, (and you, now you can relax

Congratulations everyone!!!

and dewdrop, will you be at the earlier CALS session?

^^definitely the 2:30 one…not sure yet about 10:30

I got a GT to Cornell for CALS as a Biological Sciences major! Fall 09! I am so, so excited! It’s just kind of irritating because whenever someone asks me where I’m going to college I want to say, “Cornell” but that’s not exactly true.

JdC42, dewdrop, grantortue–Thanks so much! My S really isn’t acting any different yet–isn’t that strange? He’s still in “I’ve got to make this work” mode. He has finals coming up (as probably many of you do, too), so he’s focused entirely on that. He wants to make sure that no one can take this away from him, I think, especially now that he’s come so far with it, you know? To say he’s celebrating over the news would be a gross overstatement. I don’t think he’ll believe it until he gets his final grades at the end of the month, really. I can’t say that I blame him. Gosh–it will feel good to finally celebrate once and for all as something that’s really happening, but I think it will take until Memorial Day weekend for that–and that’s if all continues to go well!

I’m so sorry to hear about the financial aid potential problem, JdC. Hang in there, though. Cornell’s known for being pretty good about meeting students’ needs with a financial aid package.

I’ll be interested to see if the other accepted GTs feel the same way about not being able to really celebrate yet until final grades come in.

anyone still waiting on the decision? im so panicked…:(

Officially accepted into CALS!! I’m so happy. :)

indigo451–I’m so happy for you! CONGRATULATIONS! That year at the CC is paying off! Think of all the $ you’ve saved now, and you’ll still get that Cornell diploma. The GT is really such a good opportunity. Way to go!

Dr.Mom - just wanted to add my congrats to you (& your son) - So glad the long wait turned out so well!!! You have always been so positive and supportive to the other kids posting…glad your own son is getting to transfer!!

Dr_Mom,

Thanks so much!! I’m really relieved now and the year at CC definitely was worth it in the end, I think. I’m glad that things worked out for your son, as well. :)

Welcome to CALS indigo!!!

i just got accepted today at ILR as a gt!! the phone number showed up restricted…see you guys in ithaca in the fall!!!

Congrats! I’m sure I’ll see you in ILR! (if I go to Cornell).

Good things come to those who wait!!!I am so happy for ya!!!

Thanks dewdrop!! I really appreciate all the insight that you’ve given over the past few months. :)

memphismom–Thank you so much for your kind words!

indigo451–Thank you!

retroglamour–Congrats! I promise I won’t call and confuse you with my 607 area code–ha! ;)

I’m curious, 2012 GTs. Some of you have been talking about attending a transfer information session. Was that set up specifically for you as GTs, or is that a general session for transfer applicants of all kinds? To my knowledge, the 2011 GTs did not have information sessions geared especially to them regarding the GT offer, but I think it would have been a good idea. It’s clear people want/need more information. I mean, just this discussion thread alone has over 54,000 views to date! (You didn’t know that many people were “watching” our little conversations here, did you?). Ha. ;)

^^The transfer info session is for current HS seniors who were offered a GT to CALS.

I never heard anything about an info session last year–that would’ve been so helpful and encouraging. I’m glad that the 2012 GTs get this opportunity. :)

yeah…admissions figured GTs have tons of questions and this is an efficient way to educate them
