"Guaranteed Transfer Option"

dr. mom, have you heard yet?

Like so many others, my S’s still waiting for official word, grantortue–thanks for asking! ;)

jeeze! I hope they come out soon! this is getting a little ridiculous

does anyone know how many applications get a GT for a certain cornell school, for instance CALS?

Hey guys, I have another question… do GT students have to send in their final HS transcripts to Cornell as well?

^ yes you do

Thanks Eeveeryone!!
Especially You Dr Mom

I Got In
Im Soo Happy
Thanks Everybody For The Help And Support
I Thought I Wasnt Gonna Make It :d

I GOT IN!!! CAS biological sciences! I got my letter yesterday and I couldn’t stop squealing!! lol

I also got in to Duke since I applied for just-in-case purposes, but I’m sticking with wonderful Cornell! GO BIG RED!!! :-D

i haven’t heard yet…i hate this! and i hate keep calling the office…

i know what you mean i called ILR again today, and the secretary transferred me to ian who told me that he could not announce the decision over the phone since it was not official yet, and that he would be calling me tomorrow or the day after…its absolute torture!! so now it’s just a matter of waiting…has anyone every heard of a gt student who didn’t meet the requirements getting rejected in a phone call? my dad has me excited saying they would just send a letter of rejection, but i doubt it’s that easy…

congrats everyone! hang in there retroglamour!

does anybody know how ILR will see the final grades for those who have been accepted as GT? i’m having a major grade issue in one of my classes (outside the ilr requirement) and honestly, i’m scared i might get rescinded.

Yes…you need to send in your final transcript so they can award you the appropriate credit.

If Im missing one class of a requirement does that put me on jeopardy? and on the site it says that my application has been sent for review…Ive never called to make sure :(

If you’re a GT…yes, I would imagine that’s a big problem.

If you’re a regular transfer…it might a problem as well b/c there are plenty of applicants who have all the required courses or are completing them this semester.

At this point it might be too late to change anything…but it never hurts to check in.

are GTs offered only to NY residents?

No, although a good number of them are.

Hello, All–

I want to thank each and every person who’s ever posted to this board over the last year (and diehldun for starting the thread a year ago!). We’ve just received word that my son was ACCEPTED to Cornell through the Guaranteed Transfer program. He will enter Cornell now as a sophomore in the fall. Needless to say, after all this time, we are ecstatic for him!

I think it actually hasn’t sunk in to my S yet. He knows he still has to get through final exams and meet the last requirements in terms of final grades for the spring semester for the GT process to be done, done, forever done. Still, it’s very nice to go to the online Application Self-Service System and see the link, “Check Your Decision,” and then see the big, bold word, “Congratulations!” when you click on it. We’re waiting for the hard-copy letter by postal mail to arrive any day now. Each phase of the acceptance notification will make it feel more and more real to my S, I think. I’m hoping the packet arrives in time for me to take it and share it with him at his current college when we visit him on Mother’s Day.

I’ll be checking back to see how everyone else makes out. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all the 2011 GTs and now, too, for the new 2012 GTs who are just beginning this process. It has been such a help to us to have these boards to come to over the last year. I remember how clueless we were about the GT when it was first offered to our S last March. I plan to hang around to offer any help to other parents or students who may come here looking for support.

Thank you so much, again, Everybody, and best of all possible luck to those of you currently awaiting your decisions!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’m so excited that you got in! Thank you for the shout-out to me, too. I’m glad if I helped in any way. You’re very welcome.

lavendergraces–Congrats to you, as well!

Congrats Dr_Mom, good to hear that your son’s wait is over.

I thought that when I was accepted, mine was too… But now I need to wait for my financial aid award letter. My parents say if I don’t get any aid, I can’t go. And with this year’s EFC at $65,000, my future at Cornell is bleak at best.

I’m going to be so upset to open my letter and see that big goose egg confirm my fate. And I’ll have to stay at hellish SUNY Buffalo for 2 more years.
