"Guaranteed Transfer Option"

and no… do not expressmail AND fax the same thing… if you sent it to them when you first applied… they have it… its just mixed up in the cluster f*** they have to deal with during this time.

Have you gotten your letter yet? I mean, they said that they made my decision last week and my letter was sent out last Thursday, I don’t see why they can’t tell me whether or not I got in… they were being very hesitant over the phone…asking me to call back the next day and stuff. My friend said that they’re doing it to stall time because they’re not supposed to tell you these kinds of things over the phone.

Seeing that you got your decision 2 weeks ago, and my application was just recently viewed, should I worry?

did you check online to see if your decision was posted? that’s how I found out many years ago…

Yeah, nothing is there.

hmm… they were very willing to tell me over the phone… and if they made a decision already i don’t see why they wouldnt tell you… that is weird and honestly it would cause me to be a bit uneasy.

What do you suggest me to do? I’d like to call back again and ask, but like I’ve stated earlier, it seems like everyone there knows who I am and I have a feeling they’re getting really irritated :(…

What did you say to them over the phone?

Well I didn’t really say anything… I just told them I would fax them the material since they said that would be the easiest way. So that I did… I kept in touch with Darlene Armstrong from Human Ec via e-mail, and she told me they would decide soon. She soon called me one morning telling me I got in… I didn’t really ask for the decision over the phone. I really can’t give you advice… i mean if you feel they are getting irritated then don’t call them… e-mail them if you REALLY want to. I say just wait for the decision. you said you have a 3.7 muffinzz that is good for a normal transfer let alone being a GT. I think you are in. I dont see why not.

Hmm… I think it was Darlene who told me to call back the next day for the past 2 days… But I think she told you your decision willingly because of the close contact you guys have kept. Do you know if HumEC is REALLY GT?

Muffinzz–I’m not understanding why you have a deadline to withdraw from your current university. I mean; you can withdraw any time, can’t you? What if you had a bad accident, or something? You’d have to withdraw. I don’t see why there’s a deadline for it, unless you mean something like that you have to pay a deposit on next year, or something. Even then, you might get the money back. Are you sure you’re not confusing the withdraw deadline with COURSE withdrawal deadline? In other words, some schools have a very late date in the semester when students may WD from a given course and have it show up as a W on their transcript rather than an F. Are you clear about this deadline? Maybe things aren’t quite as stressful as you think for tomorrow…Good luck! Also, if you are a GT, you should have known that from the beginning. A preferred transfer, or whatever, may very well not be the same thing as a GT.

It’s the housing deposit that I paid…To get my money back I’d have to notify and withdraw from the University by May 1st. If I withdraw later, I won’t get my refund. But I mean what the hell, it’s Cornell we’re talking about so losing that money is fine. Anything for Cornell! I’m just going to sit back and wait… no more calling…

Pyune- Do you still have the GT letter you received about a year ago? Could you post a few lines from it? Thanks!

Sure Muffinzz,

Dear XXXX,

On behalf of the admissions selections committee, thank you for your application to the College of Human Ecology. Although we are unable to offer you a place in our next class, we recognize your connection to the college and offer to work with you as a Guaranteed Transfer into Human Ecology while successful completing another semester or two of college coursework. We believe our programs are appropriate for your interests and that you have many personal experiences and strengths to bring to Cornell. However, a stronger academic foundation would greatly enhance your transition to Cornell.

To be guaranteed a place in our school for Fall 2008, you will need to earn a minimum 3.3 GPA (A’s and B’s) in full time work including the following course:

*Lab Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)

If you decide to accept this offer, please confirm that decision on the enclosed form. blah blah blah

i just dont understand what takes so long to make a decision, especailly the ones who have met the requirements, why does it take a lifetime to make a decison, as far as i know only about 40 ilr students a year exercise the option anyway

Can someone tell me what number I have to call to check if my application materials are all set?

As of about 8:03AM PST today… ACCEPTED!!

For some reason, they actually called my home phone, way back at HOME. So my dad ringed me up right after to let me know.

Accepted to ILR at 3:00 PM today! I’m a non-GT too, so it’s especially amazing for me.

wow, congrats everyone so far! good luck to any waiting!

Did all of you guys submit your fin aid stuff? I just don’t understand how the Fin Aid office is missing my Fin Aid app if it was attached to my income taxes, which they received.

Yesterday I called ILR asking for my admissions decision because I was thinking of transferring to other schools. A really nice woman picked up (I called Ian’s number) and told me that they were still “undecided” on me and that the admissions council is meeting all of next week to make the last decisions, and that we will all know by next Friday! It was good to finally be given a date of when all of this waiting will finally be over!!

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!

I sent in all my financial aid stuff, but they still needed my parent’s tax returns signed…

I sent it in a few days ago and still no update, but hey I got accepted and that’s what matters.

chrisfk–FANTASTIC NEWS!!! Congratulations!!!

diehldun–Where are you? Have you gone underground with the stress of waiting? I hope you haven’t left us…
