What are Bio 1 and Bio 2 also known as in most other colleges? Is it simply like, Bio 1 = a level 100 class, and Bio 2 = a level 200 class? Or can Bio 1 be an introductory class, with Bio 2 being a follow up but still in the level 100?

Couldn’t really find an exact course description for “Bio 1 and Bio 2”

Micny123–Yes; there are several biology courses, and it can get confusing. Your papers from Cornell should give you some course descriptions. You can try to go by that, but even then it’s not clear. My suggestion is to send Cornell the actual descriptions of courses you’re wondering about (a few biology course descriptions, e.g.) and let them tell you which one would transfer.

Dr. Mom, I don’t think I am the first one to hear from Cornell in CC. But I do think I am the first one to hear from Cornell online and without rushing them. Other CCers have called Cornell and told them that they needed to know the admission decisions before a certain day for various reasons. And Cornell usually discloses the admission decisions in the phone calls if that is the case.

Nevertheless, I still have not decided whether to attend Cornell or not. My financial aid application has to undergo the verification process and it takes a bit more time for the financial aid package to be sent. Currently, I receive a full-ride grants from UVA. I am definitely a bit tempted to enter the commerce school of UVA, which is even more stellar than Cornell’s undergraduate business program according to business week. So I guess the financial aid packages from UVA and Cornell will help me make my decision.

WTC–Oh, that’s right. I forgot about some of the people who have posted recently that they’ve gotten a decision over the phone. I think I was thinking of those who’ve been posting on this thread fairly regularly over the last year. Well, I also forgot your situation at UVA (a great school, btw, as you well know!). Sounds like the financial aid offer will help make the decision for you. I hope you’ll post in and let us know your final decision! UVA or Cornell? Now, there’s a nice choice! (and I can only imagine how beautiful Charlottesville must be right about now–I’ve seen it in spring!).

How about the writing requirments? My school doesnt offer the “Knight institute for writing. will this be a problem? In the guideline it states " course should require at least 6 formal essays on new topics totaling 25-30 pages of polished prose.” Does that mean each 6 essay must be 25-30 pages?

If a fall transfer applicant is accepted as a GT for spring is it possible to start in the fall as a non matriculating student? Then be full time come spring? Ever hear of Cornell allowing this?

sammy–The Knight writing program at Cornell is their funky version of College Composition I. Comp. I is the class you’d look for at another college to equate.

jrt11–Sorry; I’ve never heard of this, but maybe someone else here has. It’s a good question for you to ask your GT coordinator at Cornell to get the most accurate answer! ;)

Wooooot!!! I just checked my decison on-line and I got accepted from ILR!!!

haha. Today was sunday so I was skeptical if the decision would be up, but I checked anyway. It had my decision on it. This just made my day. After this long wait, I finally heard. GL to every1 else who’s waiting!

That’s TERRIFIC news, delivery man! I’m so pleased for you! Must feel great. Thanks so much for posting to let us know!

That’s 2 for 2 for ILR now, I think? (diehldun–have you heard anything yet?). Now, if only these other darned colleges would start posting or sending out their GT decisions, too…Errgh!

Hey, opeful–A lil’ prayer’s been “posted” for ya! ;)

Hey guys, another GT student here. I got an offer to ILR for Fall '09.

I’m pretty curious about this whole GT business… how many people get this offer anyway? My HS counselor has never heard of this GT thing before…

soundgarden–We don’t know numbers, but there are several ILR GTs, even just here on this message board. Your HS counselor is not unusual in not knowing about the GT offer. My S’s didn’t either, and I had not, even though I’ve been associated with colleges as a professor for over 20 years now. Congrats on your GT offer!

My G.C. didnt know about it either. A lot of people are very surprised. Call admissions in the college that offered you the GT and they will tell you what you want to know. They are very forth coming.

I am a HumEc GT. Lately, I’ve been calling their Admission’s Office like crazy because first, they said that I was missing my high school transcript (they said that I don’t need to send in one because they have mine from last year), and second, it is close to May 1st, which is the deadline for me to withdraw from my current University. Almost everytime I call now, the person who answers the phone knows who I am. They either say “Is this my name?”. Is that a bad thing or a good thing? It sounds like they are intimidated that I keep calling. I was told that my decision got sent out last Thursday, and I have not received it yet (I live in upstate NY, so it should take 2-3 days for it to be delivered). What should I do?

well i am a humEC gt as well and they told me over the phone. Have you met your GT requirements? If you have I say just wait… because your probably in.

Yeah…try not to stress. That’s the beautiful thing about being a GT…if you’ve met every requirement that was laid out, you’re guaranteed admission.

Yeah I’ve met every single requirement (got a 3.7 GPA and took the required courses and my lowest grade was a B). But the whole GT thing for HumEc confused me. First, I called them and they told me that they do not offer GT, they only offer TO (Transfer Option- meaning you do not get a guaratee, but you get first preference in the transfer pool), meaning that I am still competing with other transfers, so that is why I’ve been stressing about this. I am debating whether or not I should call tomorrow and ask about my decision because May 1st is only 2 days away… Do any of you know if HumEC REALLY does the whole GT thing?

They said that I should not worry about my high school transcript, but I am about to go to my school and express mail AND ask my guidance secretary to fax that bad boy. Should I do that?

i see why not Muffinzz. I mean… I got my letter last year saying I was guaranteed. I met all my requirements… I had 4 As and a B- in Chem. I wrote a decent essay, and they told me I was accepted 2 weeks ago. Granted, I did fax everything and Darlene Armstrong who is the secretary there helped me a lot with the process which probably attributes to my early decision.
