"Guaranteed Transfer Option"

no…they don’t matter so much.

they just care that you met all your GT requirements and did well at the college level.

oh, that is relieving to hear. Thanks dewdrop. I have all As at college level, but I got 2 Cs during second semester of hs senior yr due to senioritis…I am glad this won’t affect my GT status. (cuz GT said that it will rescind the GT status if I get anything lower than a B, and I was hoping this won’t count for my h.s. transcript, but only for college transcript)

nope…GT applies only to college requirements :-)

Hey i thought i would just let everyone in on an interesting situation that occured today…

Some backround info: I am a GT to ILR for the fall of 2008

I have been checking my application status online, and it tells me Cornell is missing my High school transcript, SAT scores, and SAT II scores. I was confused because they should have all that information and i did not think i needed to send it again. So anyway, i called up and they told me that i am indeed correct, and as a GT i do not need to send that info. Also, a woman looked on the computer for me and told me that they had all of my transfer documents. I asked if there was any timeline of when i would be given a “decision”, and she replied “not really”. She said they will call me when they finish looking over all of my materials.

So a few hours go by, and i receive an email telling me that i am missing information, and the committee cannot review my application until i submit it. The email gave me a link to my online application status, to check what i was missing. The email also told me that if i did not fax the missing material over to them by May 2, my application would be withdrawn. This was not very settling! So i checked the link they sent me to see what i was missing, and it was the same material the woman over the phone told me earlier in the day i did not need! So once again, i called back, and spoke to the woman. She essentially told me it is a stock email, and it actually does not apply to me at all. She appologized for creating any anxiety on my end, and said that it was a negative aspect of the system that i received that email when i should not have. So once again i am playing the waiting game just waiting for the call, but at least i know that they have everything.

So if anyone faced a similar situation, or receieved a similar email, i hope this helps clear it up.

If you don’t answer the phone when they call, do they leave a message? :)

They told me I didn’t pay my application fee… which I mailed immediately. Waiting for that callllll

indigo, I am not sure if they will leave a message. But if I see a missed call from a number with area code 607, I will definitely call back!!!
chrisfk, isn’t the app fee waived for GT?

make sure it’s a 607-255-xxxx number :-)

It might have been, might not. I’m not taking any chances. In any case, I probably lost that waiver…oh well.

When I got the call it was “Restricted”… so I answered it like I would if it were a tele-marketer so I was a bit taken back. Regardless, if it says you are missing stuff offer to FAX it to them. Everyone here seems to be resending it via post etc. That is the worst thing to do. It just makes their job of sorting things out more complicated. Call them arrange a fax or an e-mail. I got everything done in less than an hour, they are very helpful.

WTC–Gee, that means you’ll call me back if I call you, since I have a 607 area code! Ha. Just giving you a hard time! ;)

Yes; my S is battling confusion over more of these crazy emails now, too, sebastion3, so thanks so much for posting what we suspected might be happening. If he doesn’t get something cleared up soon, he says he may have to check it out. It would be dreadful after all this time and effort to find out that something did turn out to be missing. I doubt they’re missing anything, though. I think all these emails are just another sign of wonderful technology at work.

delivery man–You take the anxiety to new heights going back to worry about your high school grades now, too, at this point! Whew. The GT, as others have said, has to do with your freshman year grade requirements–at least that’s how it is for my S’s college. Reread your papers from Cornell whenever you start suffering from “imaginary” problems like that–they’ll set you straight! Ha. I feel for you, though; I really do. It’s been a stressful year. It would be so nice to just have this all decided and be done, done, done.

OMG…Accepted…I just checked my application status…there is a link to check your admission decision!!!
and sth like this pops up after I clicked into the link

Congratulations!!!

First of all, congrats to all GTs who got accepted!!
And second, can you please help me with my problem…?
CALS Science of Natural and Environmental Systems for ‘09.
Requirements are the basics, 2 english, one calc, and bio 1 and 2 with lab. But I’m struggling (a lot) with the bio requirement. I already posted one thread before, but I don’t know… It’s so frustrating! I sent them the course description for Colby College and Stony Brook (through [CALS Admissions: Request Course Information](http://www.cals.cornell.edu/cals/prospective/admissions/applying/transfer/information.cfm) <-this site) and one bio course from Colby was declined… And it seems like stony doesn’t have much bio classes with lab… the e-mail takes forever. should I call Cornell and ask them (very very very kindly) to review the courses at Colby AND Stony? I said yes to both, so i guess i have some time until june, but it’s much better if i get over with this soon. should i just wait until may 17 to meet them? what do i do…:’(

Psm008- Do you mind if I ask how you submitted your requests for the course offerings? Like, how many times did you actually submit it, and how long did it take for them to get back? I don’t want to submit too many course information requests, but I think I need to =/

You do have until June like you said, but then again you don’t want to do things at the very end, and just stress over everything at once. Is it possible for you to attend one of their informational sessions? They have one every Monday and Friday for April, then they’re not doing it for May.

[CALS Admissions: Visiting](http://www.cals.cornell.edu/cals/prospective/admissions/visiting/index.cfm)

Try and make an appointment with a faculty member for your major.

"Note: Transfer students are encouraged to attend the group sessions and schedule an individual appointment well in advance of the application deadline if they have further questions around transfer planning. We meet with transfer students the semester before they begin the application process. These appointments are not evaluative interviews, but a time to answer questions about the transfer process and to discuss proper course selection. "

If you haven’t already done so, an appointment would probably be best if you don’t receive an e-mail soon, because you probably don’t want to save anything for the end =/ Then agian, you can always call if you want, but I’m guessing you’ll have to talk about A LOT of things seeing how the course descriptions and everything need to be explained, so I’m not sure about that, sorry.

Good luck!

psm008–I’m sure you’ve read this whole thread and have seen that the Bio. requirement is the stickiest, apparently, of the requirements to match up for those with a GT to CALS. Some people either gave up or decided not to go through with the GT based on having problems with that course alone. My sense is that the SUNY schools match up more cleanly/neatly to the CALS requirements (this is especially helpful to GTs if they don’t mind attending a SUNY their first year). This doesn’t mean those attending other colleges can’t match up, but just that it may be easier to transfer SUNY courses; they may be designed more alike. Are you sure the Bio. I and II courses at SUNY Stony Brook don’t have labs? That strikes me as odd. Make sure the labs aren’t listed separately. For example, you might see something like Biology I for 3 cr. hrs. and Biology I lab for 1 cr. hr., making up a typical 4-credit-hour college biology course.
