i got an email at noon saying to call cals and get my decision over the phone.

Wow. Hope you got in.

diehldun,

Yes, I did ask for my decision. It was not just a random call to congratulate me. I told her that if I didn’t sign up for classes by the 18th, I would incur late fees. Granted, I already incurred fees for housing. Check this, for the upper classman housing lottery I had #9, it was hard not signing up for housing…i could of had anything i wanted.

You mean the housing lottery for your current school, or Cornell?

So i got a letter today saying I was given a preferred transfer acceptance for spring 2009. is this same as GT? and why spring? will i be given the same opportunity if i apply for fall 2009?

housing lottery at my current school.

chazz90, i think preferred transfer acceptance is basically you are given preference over other transfers. Its almost like a GT but, I think they give more of these out because these options are not really “guaranteed”. They can reject you if they believe it is necessary. However, if you maintain good grades 3.4-5+, and follow their curriculum you basically are pretty much guaranteed for Cornell. Gluck.

Wait, so all the GTs to Cals have their decisions today? Wow, I wanna hear now too. Anyone heard from ILR yet? Do we know when we will hear?

Not true, I’m a GT to CALS and I haven’t heard anything.

pyune–Are you in CALS? I’m confused…

redsoxfan–We didn’t hear back from you so far. Did you get a decision?

This all seems a little odd. If you do have a reason to find out “early,” I think that’s why they may be obliging. For example, if you have to pay $ soon to hold a spot for next year at your current college, that sort of thing. They might be helping out students like that who call.

diehldun–hang in there–this “trickling” news must be driving you crazy! :(

My S hasn’t heard anything yet, but this is starting to sound like the bit with the status of your application online might really have no point to it for GTs.

i heard from Hotel today about preferred transfer acceptance

accepted- environmental engineering. i was kinda nervous since i had a b- in calc last semester. i called them and told someone in admissions that i loose my housing deposit on may 1. she told me shed mark that on my application so that could be why i got my decision early

Dr_Mom first off, I just want to tell you how cool i think it is that you are on CC for your son. I am a policy analysis and management major for the college of Human Ecology. Regardless I think that many GT decisions are already done but they need to finish regular decisions to load all the online statuses at once. So if you call you may get lucky.

Thanks, pyune! I hope it’s not too “weird” that I’m here…my S’s just not the message board type. I guess I do seem to be the only parent here now (it wasn’t that way at first, and I guess I stopped noticing!!!). Anyway, CONGRATS on your decision. That’s great!

redsoxfan13–Awesome! CONGRATS to you, too! This is great, you guys. Lots of good news on the board today!

The wait continues…

so far no bad news :)

This is encouraging to us '12 GT’s!

Good luck to all of you who are still waiting!

I made a huge mistake and I used what I thought was common knowldege in my paper and apparently i was supposed to cite the information and now i might be getting an xf on my transcript in english which will show up as failure do to academic dishonesty, i should be getting an acceptance based on my grades thus far, but once i send my offical transcript for transferring credits and when they see the xf do you think cornell rescind my offer, should i try to send the offical trancript as late a possible so that it would be harder for them to rescind the offer of admisssion?, any help would be much appreciated

Eeeeek!! I would say wait as long as possible…and maybe you should call your transfer adviser and explain to them the situation. Did you talk to the professor about it and explain your specific situation?

Has anyone heard from ILR yet? It is so reassuring to hear that another student who got below the specific grade requirement in only one class got accepted!!

Hey, all–Just reporting in that my S check his app. status online page this morning and says it’s been updated (the checklist thingie–what they have and don’t have from your app. packet, etc.). No decision yet, though. So, anyway, if you haven’t checked your online app. status in awhile, you might want to give it another look (or, if you’re obsessively checking it and refreshing the page every 10 minutes, then you may know this info. already!). ;)

allright, i have a question.

Does anyone know if the hs senior grades are part of the GT requirement. If you got a C second semester of sen yr at hs., will that affect my GT status?
