"Guaranteed Transfer Option"

So no one has heard anything yet? I have a feeling we may be hearing decisions sooner than the application-checklist update…

Anyways, I took a look at last year’s GTs, and it seems that those who met all GT requirements already heard back over a week ago in 2007 (beginning 4/12/07)! I believe the general transfer deadline was pushed back 2 weeks this year, which may explain it.

This is LAST YEAR’S thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/329345-i-got-my-ilr-gt-decision.html</a></p>

Geez, diehldun! We’re going to visit my S at school today, and I thought I’d check in on the board for any news to tell him. The first thing I see is your last line above, which was actually a quote from LAST YEAR! I thought: a.) you heard GREAT NEWS, and b.) that you’d heard back and my S hadn’t yet. Neither of those is true…yet!

Still hoping for good news for everyone. It seems like everything is running a bit behind. Sorry about the pins and needles for some of you. I can feel your tension from here!

btw: It’s finally reached the 70s here in Central NY. Yesterday and today are gorgeous, sunny spring days! The absolute best months to live here, imho, are May and October. I’m looking forward to next month!

^ I agree 110% Doctor Mom :)

Although it’s going to be a little warm in the HV, topping out at 80 today!!!

Hi, grantortue–Is your family supporting your thoughts of going for the GT? Looks like you are going to start at Oswego? You’ll see some terrific lake effect snow there, if that’s the case!

Yeah, my family is a little hesitant, but supportive. I know what I have to do, and that’s really all that matters. Yeah, I’ll be at SUNY Oswego for a year. I dropped my meteo. major to undeclared in order to have less scheduling conflicts, and I’m taking the required calc. class this spring/summer at a local comm. college. I’m feeling really confident about it! I feel like if you plan (which you will if you want it bad enough), it is a very easy process, or at least thus far. I’m trying to figure out what dorm I want to stay in at Oswego. I def. want a quiet one, but a lakeside one would be great too so I could secretly admire the lake-effect snow, haha. My friend who will be a junior at Oswego is helping me out with all that. And CALS is holding an info session in a month to help all of its GT’s, which I think is great and shows how much they care, considering not many other of Cornell’s colleges are doing the same. Let me know what happens with your s, I’m anxious to hear the news about him and all '11 Gt’s!

I got my email from CALS the morning of the day I was planning on calling the admissions office. Like you all, I’m now just waiting on an update of the website. I’m getting so anxious/excited!!

grantortue–Glad to hear your family is cautiously supportive. If you can major in meteorology at Oswego no matter what happens, then they shouldn’t really have much to worry about, I’d think.

An info. session at Cornell about the GT program? Wow. I never heard any of the colleges doing that before. Now, that’s very interesting…Did any of the other GTs here on the board have an info. session in May about the process? Can I admit I’m jealous of this new opportunity? Such a meeting would have been so reassuring to my S and us in embarking on this nerve-wracking year!

Make sure about the calc class, grantortue (maybe ask for sure at your info. session or through contacting your CALS counselor)–our understanding was that they wanted all the req’d preparatory coursework done while you’re a FULLTIME student. They might have changed that rule, or it might be different for your particular case.

Thanks for your interest in the Class of '11 GTs. We just got back from visiting my S at school. He’s doing well, but I don’t think it’s hit him yet that he’s only got about a month or so left at this current college, if all goes well. It’s getting close to when it would be really good to hear something confirmed from Cornell soon!

indigo–I’m so glad you finally heard something from Cornell, even if it’s not much info… At least, now you’re caught up to the rest of the GTs here who have heard something, which is basically that they have to just keep waiting some more!

I’m just wondering why so many people found out much earlier last year (some even with personal phone calls!). There’s another thread going on in the “transfer” section, with someone saying “it” (decisions?) will be posted by this coming Friday:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/492082-cornell-application-status-2.html</a></p>

Of course, this is all speculative information, but I probably agree (since it’s essentially “end of the month”). I am guessing that will include us GTs too.

yeah diehldun, i know we are GTs and all but the wait is killing me.

just try to be patient guys and consider yourself lucky to be GTs. Some regular transfers will not hear a decision until June!

best of luck…I’ve got my fingers crossed for all of you!

ugh,…anyone knows when we will hear our decisions? but id assume we are all pretty darn close to the finish line, maybe we hear within next week? 2 weeks?

For all of you 2007 GTs, when you login w/ your password, does it tell you if Cornell received everything of yours? Or does it say check back after April 7? Also when you click on check Fin Aid stuff, does it say Cornell received everything of yours b/c I sent all of my stuff and it says that Cornell did not receive my Fin Aid App, which is weird. maybe they are still processing it-- hopefully at least.

As far as I know, none of us receive a message other than the April 7 one. :(

the admissions board secretary told me that she would ask about my GT decision this morning. I am going to give her a call this afternoon to find out. I think they are getting all the decisions finished up. If you guys are restless you should give your respective college admissions office a call.

just got a call. accepted

Congrats. Now email will not do b/c I do not know who my admissions officer is by name nor her/his phone #?

uhh, what college are you applying to? go to their website and they should have a contact list.

Oh boy, here we go…

Pyune, congrats! Do you think you got the early call because you asked for the decision/info?
