<p>I’m pretty set on ending up at Cornell, but how do you explain the “GT Acceptance” to your friends and family?</p>

<p>First of all, Congratulations!!! This is a great deal and a wonderful opportunity…. You’re basically guaranteed a spot after you complete your first year of college anywhere else!!! I am an ILR GT and I was in your position last year 
not many ppl get this chance…so you should definitely feel special!!!</p>

<p>I got a GT for ILR…I’m really excited!</p>
<p>Yeah… this has been tricky so far. I tell them “I got into Cornell…” and they say congratulations, and when I tell them “…sophomore year”, they give me wierd looks. It’s been ackward explaining it.</p>
<p>But I still want to go to Cornell. Really excited!</p>
<p>Just tell them the truth. Noone actually cared that it was for Sophomore year. If your going, ur going. If u tell someone ur gonna be a millionaire in a year then they will still understand that u r going to be a millionaire (example). No1 thought that made a difference and a few of my friends actually started calling me Ivy League for like a month lol (no1 gets into good schools from my school lol). You got in and u should be proud. If it’s a friend tell them the whole situation. If not just say ur going to Cornell and leave it at that or even just that u got wat’s called a GT which means ur going Sophomore year. Short n sweet for those u don’t really care to explain it to. Great job and I hope ur extremely happy because…well…I was lol.</p>
<p>Hey nobody is really going to care if you’re going to Cornell your soph. year…you’re still going to Cornell and that’s all that matters…don’t feel like you need to be validated by others! :)</p>
<p>It’ll be the diploma on ur wall, it’ll be ur alumni base, ect… It’s amazing.</p>

<p>haha it’s their loss if they don’t know Cornell is an Ivy. Obviously they aren’t exactly up in the upper strata of academia. My roommate at this college that I’m at right now (I’m a GT) only got in this school because he’s an athlete, but then he dropped track and his coach went “WHAT!? You know the only reason u got in here was because u run right!?” (+ he has a 2.2 gpa). Well he goes “ummm is Cornell hard to get into?” My other roommate was like “haha, ya, it’s an Ivy League school. Obviously it’s hard to get into” and we all laughed. He was saying that so he could think about how hot the girls will be btw lol. wow I’m a bad story teller lol</p>

<p>i know how that feels…but you are far from rejection, so you’re not rejected! if anything you should be very happy cuz they must have liked you a lot in order to give you a GT!!! :)</p>
