Guess it wasn't molestation.

I was concerned a short while ago by a local principal, who was investigating an incident at her elementary school, apparent begun by a student who was acting out pleasuring himself, in a way that alarmed other children
The principal asked the students individually and alone in her office, to demonstrate

However- I apparently was all worried needlessly.

Lute-Ervin, who could not immediately be reached for comment, has been advised about best practices but will not be disciplined as a result of the incident, district spokeswoman Lesley Rogers said.

[Investigation: Seattle principal didn’t violate policy in handling alleged sexual incident | Local News | The Seattle Times](http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2018262996_lafayette23m.html)

Now I have heard everything. I swear, if our species dies out I won’t be all that surprised. :frowning: Stories like this make me think the universe just might decide humans are too stupid to live.

Good God. I think I agree with you, kelsmom.

I’m really concerned about the way the district has handled this ( despite documentation).
Children need to feel safe to learn. Whether the principal was criminal or ignorant, the district has not made it clear that kids will be safe.
IMO, by announcing that the principal will not even be disciplined, is taking out an ad announcing to all child abusers who want easy access to kids that Seattle is the place to be.

The situation was handled very ineptly.

I would like to see some aggressive efforts made to educate school personnel on how best to handle such situations. After that, maybe some policy changes need to be made so that policy and best practices at least resemble each other.

Since this isn’t the first time, this sort of thing has taken place ( indeed something else happened earlier this year in another school. The principal of that school joined Seattles disgraced former superintendent in the special district Michigan has put together for the bottom 5% of schools. Just what they need. :frowning: )

So I assumed that just maybe something else was already in place?
For one of the most educated areas in the country, we are pretty dumb.

EK, I PM’d you …

EK, just hugs. Those poor kids. I worked in one of those Michigan schools for a few years and it’s just not fair to those kids. Just like your situation isn’t fair to those children.

Yes, yes. They should do that. And then make written policies to cover every other idiotic thing that a person can possible mishandle. Why should anyone ever be expected to use common sense and decency in the execution of their job? We clearly need to spell EVERYTHING out because if it isn’t in writing, then we can’t hold anyone accountable.

A perfect example of “screw up and move up”.
