Guess the score of my official SAT essay, I mentioned smoking pot?

One of the more ■■■■■■■■ essays I have ever written…

Prompt: If people worked less, would they be more creative and active during their free time? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

So, what are your scores? Out of 12 please.

This was the May 2011 SAT reasoning test, if any of you are wondering.

I got that same prompt in may…

I dont really know, I didn’t completely follow it but I’ll give you a 9 because you filled up 2 pages.

Wow. I’m sorry, but that was…
I’d give that a 6. But I agree with jd9898 that purely for the 2 pages you’d begin with a 9 in reality.

Any more guesses or critiques?

I got an 11 relating how Michael Phelps smoked pot to the prompt. Smoking pot is a creative example which readers would like…i’d say 11

I decided to just type it all out.

To put it in simplest terms, working is part of human nature. Everybody goes through stress when dealing with too much, but when dealing with little, there seems to be no productivity at all even with the extra free time. If people worked less, they would certainly not be creative and active during their free time because of increased dormancy and restless boredom leading to detrimental effects to human health.

Unfortunately, there are way too many people in the world who do not have a job and “sit on the couch and watch movies” all day. Is this the definition of being creative? The truth of the matter is that when people have nothing to do the whole day, a cycle of dormancy begins. First, they might wake up early and eat a nice breakfast or they will wake up at noon. Either way, these people will realize they have nothing to do all day and resort to mindless forms of entertainment like watching T.V. On the other hand, people who work all day tend to increase their productivity by working more and not allowing themselves to watching toxic addicting shows on the television. However, the other people who lie dormant in their homes may start to become bored and experiment with harmful drugs.

Consequently, marijuana use has increased in the state of California. This is mainly because people who stay in their houses all day tend to get very bored and want to try new additives other than T.V. It is always the same case. In one of the most famous talk shows broadcasted on television, Dr. Phil always asks his patients why they resort to the continuous and harmful use of drugs. The response is almost always the same: “I am bored and have nothing better to do.” Even in my school, many juniors and seniors ditch. Instead of studying for exams or being productive by assisting their parents with chores and such, they just sit there smoking pot. All day, they just sit there and no one can stop them. They have all the free time anybody can ask for but sometimes people can not be trusted to use their precious time wisely. Unfortunately, people get bored in their houses and want to experiment with something to liberate their constant feeling of boredom. So they resort to drugs which leads to harmful effects happening to their bodies.

Essentially, if people worked less, they would definitely have more free time. However, this free time may be abused with constant dormancy and restless boredom.

Okay so that was my ■■■■■■■■ essay. Please do not apologize for the score you give me.

An 8. You focus on one potential thing as an example and your prose is not economical or succinct.

8/9, solid structure w/ thesis and clear examples. However, the examples weren’t specific, rather they were hypothetical and the 2nd body paragraph kind of skipped around. In addition, the writing is too simplistic and informal which is probably where your essay was the weakest.

yeah you skip around a lot between formal and informal, but more important argument wasn’t that set/strong. i’d say 8 just because it’s long.

Lol very off scores

You got a 12?

I got an 11, this is not too surprising right?

Note to self: mention drug use on essay

Well, contrary to popular opinion, I think I had some mastery in effective writing, right? Lol
