Guidance recs:which ones?

Here’s my situation: I recently moved from NY to VA, and obviously I got a new guidance counselor. I’ve known my counselor at NY for my whole high school career, and have a great relationship with her. She even wrote me some great recs for me to take with me to VA. On the common app, there’s a section for the guidance counselor to fill out a report. Does my old guidance counselor fill that out or my new one? I’ve only recently met my new one, and so far had only one meeting to make my schedule, thus she won’t be able to do my evaluation thoroughly. Any input would be appreciated. Thx.

I think the official form may have to be filled out by your current counselor, but it would be a good idea to a) give the new counselor a copy of the letter for the old GC, b) maybe have the new counselor talk to the old one on the phone? and c) include a copy of a letter from the old counselor with your application.

Also, you might want to try asking this question in one of the forums where there are admissions officers posting to see what they prefer/recommend (Dean J at [U</a>. Virginia](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=50), AdmissionsDaniel at Hopkins and Matt and Ben at MIT are the ones I can think of off the top of my head)

Your new gc will probably have to fill out the guidance recommendation, but I would include any letters of rec from your old counselor, or like the above poster said, have them contact each other (email is a good way for that).
