Guys don't like funny girls as much as girls like funny guys?

Do you find this to be true in your personal life?

Do you girls find that sense of humor is high on your list of qualities in the ideal mate?
Do you guys prefer funny girls?
I understand why guys like girls who laugh at their jokes (compatibility). But studies are showing that they have no preference for girls who make them laugh, if their objective is to enter a relationship with these girls. Isn’t the latter a case of compatibility as well?

I always ask my girlfriends, and they always say they like funny guys. I don’t understand WHY. Could you explain that? Growing up as a gay guy, I always associated humor with girls. I don’t find a sense of humor, especially if consciously displayed, to be a huge plus.

Are these societal expectations rooted in biology or what?

That’s great to hear.

It probably comes from a view that is centered around the personality ethic, rather than character ethic, since success has become more a function of personality, public image, attitudes and behaviours, skills and techniques, that lubricate the processes of human interaction.

I think you guys are looking too much in a biological standpoint. I don’t this has much to do with a science/biology thing. this not a science experiment and Wanting to find a scientific reason is just too over analyzing.

Just be logical. Being funny/Humor is just one way to let a girl know you are a guy who likes to have fun. Making a girl laugh alot allows her to see she can have fun with you. Plus humor/laughing is good for the body…I mean I feel good when I laugh…so I’m guessing the same thing applies to girls too. Humor is a great part of someone’s personality. And personality is a thing some girls go for.

Dam I read your question wrong sorta

Anyways,Funny girls are just fun to be around but I never really dating a girl who was really class clown. So I dunno much about it… They are annoying sometimes

Thats what I think.

what’s funny??
i am a guy, when i see girls acting dumb it’s not funny to me.

i am told i am funny dude for just acting like i was clueless or know to much
i like ill get the last word in every convo saying… rightt… oh… kaay… yea…

funny girls don’t know their funny
dumb girls act funny

anyway. i like punchlines

Girls are never funny.

If a girl tries to be funny, she wants attention from guys.

women can be funny. girls aren’t. (some college aged females are women, others are girls)

girls just can’t be funny period

Those that try turn me off. I hate those dumb types too.

Why not? This is what I don’t get.

Women can be funny and girls can’t? That makes NO sense. People don’t suddenly develop a good sense of humor, funny girls grow up to be funny women.

No. Stop contributing gender roles to biology. You must be joking…

Don’t be so dismissive. You’ve got to keep an open mind if you want to flourish as a student. The following article suggests a link to biology.

<a href=“News | BioEd Online”>News | BioEd Online;

What studies don’t explain is why guys don’t like funny girls as much as girls like funny guys. Guys appreciate girls who laugh at their jokes, but not necessarily girls who make them laugh.

Why do you think this implies biological differences?

The title is “Laughter paves the way for romance: Studies suggest humour signals big brain and good partner-potential.”

Read the last paragraph I cited.

Also, the article comes from a Biology website.

I said there’s a biological link.

Do you guys prefer funny girls?

No. No I don’t.

There are very few genuinely funny girls around. Being silly and acting in a goofy way does not count as funny to me, although it does elicit laughter from guys in social settings. I agree that some girls who do the latter are just plain vain and slutty.

Simple answer to this one: Their are only 7 funny girls.

Who are the 7 funny girls? (rolls eyes and waits for some immature answer)

Sorry, I didn’t bother to read the artlce. Just the things you said. :P

I see that its a theory. One of those evolutionary psychology things. But its just a theory. They didn’t do any testing on a biological level. Just supposings.

I actually don’t have more than a handful, I was just leaving room for there to be people I haven’t heard of/ haven’t met. Examples include:

Tina Fey
Rebecca Drysdale (http://www.beckdrys.com/</a>)
Samantha Bee

And a couple others, but I’m too tired at the moment.

We’re not talking about comedians, thanks.

Well you asked who the 7 were, didn’t you. I’ve yet to meet a truly funny girl first hand (with the exception of the aforementioned Drysdale)
