GW and Consulting: Transfer Neccessary?

I am currently a sophomore at George Washington University’s School of Business and I am majoring in International Business and Finance. I have a 3.9 GPA after 29 credits at this school and am an active member of Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity, and have done a summer internship for Bank Bemo Saudi Fransi. If I apply to transfer to the top business schools, I think I have a pretty damn good chance.

But I want to know whether or not it is a good idea for me to stay at GW and become a very prominent, distinguished student or transfer to another school that is recruited by the top consulting firms such as UVa, Duke, Penn, NYU and lose my distinction and network at GW.

you can get into a top consulting firm from alot of places that arent heavily recruited. Although students at Penn and Duke may have the upper hand in the recruiting process, you can always apply to these firms without the need from the schools career services. GW is already a good school but im not sure how well recruited it is. Keep your GPA up and youll get one of those jobs. But hey, if you can get into Wharton, you might as well go.

Thank you for your insight, more is definately appreciated

I was talking to somebody at GW and they said that there are a few ibanks and consluting firms that recruit on campus and they expect it to get better every year. I guess not that good cuz your asking this question, but Whats your take on the job opps?

Why don’t you go to the GW career office and find out what they will be able to do to help you get a consulting job. Get the facts, don’t assume anything. I think GW is strong in international business.

when it comes to the top consulting firms, GW just doesnt get the bites the top ivey’s and tier 1 schools do…that’s where my doubts lie
