GW Cheerleading?

I am currently a senior and will be applying to GW this year. Does anyone know anything about cheerleading at GW? (Are they good, do they compete, etc.)

I’m not sure particularly about cheerleading, but if you’re a girl and you’re interested in the idea, I’d check out the GW First Ladies. It’s a nationally ranked cheerleading/dance type squad, and I believe that a scholarship is part of the deal. You’d have to audition, though.

They have a squad. They compete. I think they’re fairly decent, but certainly not known for it. GW isn’t much of a sports school. There’s no football, just basketball. As far as ranking/competition, I’m not sure.

I was actually on the cheerleading team last year, and it’s a fairly competitive squad. We did trips to Florida and Hawaii for competitions. There will be tryouts in the fall. The coach is a former cheerleader from the Baltimore Ravens.

thanks academia22 what are the tumbling requirements to make the squad?

Well, it honestly varies year to year depending on the skill levels of the participants trying out. It can range from a Double Toe-Touch Double Handspring, Frontwalkover Roundoff, or a Handspring Tuck to a Triple Toe Touch Tuck or Roundoff Handspring Full. But don’t base this off of anything, because it can greatly vary.
