Gwen Ifill has passed away...

The Washington Post is reporting that Gwen Ifill has passed away…I am heartbroken. The PBS Newshour is a program I make sure to watch everyday. It is the essence of balanced reporting, something that is sadly lacking in this day and age.

RIP Gwen

I am so sad about this. She was the epitome of a decent, and fair journalist.

I am a religious watcher of The Newshour and Washington Week in Review, This is such sad news. She was so young. :frowning: :frowning:

RIP Gwen

Sadness. Hearts and roses to her loved ones.

This makes me sad. She was on PBS for some of the primary debates…but I truly missed her later on.

A very bright and well spoken woman, with a broad perspective.

She will be missed.

So sad to hear this. Too young to be gone. She will be missed for her intelligent and fair reporting.

She was a voice of reason and probity. One of the best moderators and journalists out there. Will sorely miss her perspective.

Classy lady. RIP.

Shocking, I hadn’t realized she was ill. I will miss her perspective and calm demeanor, especially now.

Very sad. She was S1’s commencement speaker at Wake Forest in 2013.

I was shocked and saddened to hear this. She was one of the very few fair journalists out there. Watching the News Hour was tough tonight.

She was a first class journalist as well as a class act. May she rest in peace.

So sad… such a loss. I always try to watch some of the PBS Newshour after dinner, one of my favorite programs, such outstanding well-balanced reporting and human interest pieces also. It was a beautiful tribute to her tonight and Judy Woodruff was close to breaking down.
Can the news get any sadder… day by day?? A tremendous loss.

A huge loss to the national discourse, just when we need it most.

The same goes for the retirement of Diane Rehm.

R.I.P. Gwen, the pride of Buffalo, NY.

The pride of many places. She was a minister’s daughter and grew up in various places in NYC, in Buffalo, and in PA and MA.
