I’m so excited!!! Little over 2 hours, now
Hey,
Thank you so much for the information! That was super helpful, and it actually kind of sounds preferable over a regular plan.
My daughter is a junior at GW and has been very happy with the plan. There is a learning curve but it is super manageable.
@Sarrip don’t let any negativity alter your decision! People are more likely to voice their opinions when they are negative. Most people love the dining plan!
@Spkrstudent1234 can you please comment your opinions of the video above
@Sarrip I have a lot of reservations about this too because although the option of eating out is available at GWU, it is like that at many colleges, but they also have a dining hall. And would you really wanna be cooking in undergrad, a lot of colleges also have kitchens in their dorm. But they have dining halls as well
It seems as though GWU wouldn’t be the right fit for me
@goldmidnight7 - This is not the same video that I saw. I know that going to college is a step up and that it’s time to start adulting but I would really rather my daughter be able to grab something quick to eat if needed and short on time as opposed to having to go seek out food. I think as a freshman there will be plenty of struggles, I don’t want meals to be one of them.
In my view, while “dining out” may sound fine but not having dining hall(s) is a real negative since does not create a “common traffic area” for students to run into each other to socialize.
How does Georgetown and American compare to GW? Seeing that they are all DC schools, I am very interested to know the difference in quality/ experience if any of you have insights!
Depends on what you are studying
@collgedreamng121 I don’t go to any of them (current senior) but I toured all of them. GW is the only one with a really “urban” campus. American has a small version of the typical college campus, while Georgetown has a pretty big campus. Georgetown has a bit more of an ivy feel, while American and GW feel more down-to-Earth. GW also has the two different campuses, while it takes about 15ish minutes to walk the length of AU’s campus. It really does depend on what you’re studying. American and GW have more variety in majors than Georgetown. They all excel in humanities and social sciences though.
My D has loved the dining plan. Keep in mind that most dorms have kitchens. Also in one dorm in the basement is a “food court” of sorts. there are plenty of grab and go places that take Gworld all around campus. Even food trucks. Its very easy to also “grab meals with friends”. My other child is at a university with standard dining and hates the same ole, same ole by now and was using more and more “dining dollars” Next year he will have a kitchen and is looking forward to it.
Any thoughts on GW’s psychology offerings? D is interested in psych and possibly neuroscience.
Who’s excited/ nervous??
@Auntlydia I’m not sure how strong GWU is in the sciences currently, but they do have plans to really up their STEM game
30 mins left…
For those who have not toured GWU, one thing that I love about their campus is their dedication to recycling and having a clean, green space for students to work and study. I toured last summer and it was one of the things that stuck out the most to me. My tour guide was really excited about it too!
Thanks for sharing! I never got an opportunity to tour and this definitely moved it higher on my list.
