GWU RD Class of 2024!

@zen333 I heard back about the special program I applied to (womens leadership program) today

:frowning:

Accepted to Elliot w/ Presidential Scholarship of $24k/year! Is there a groupchat I can join for accepted students?

Also for ppl who didn’t get in/got waitlisted, just remember how subjective the whole application process is. The school’s decision does not reflect you as a student or as a person. I’ve been wailisted by schools that are generally less competitive than GW, so hopefully you’re not too discouraged if your waiting on other decisions. Just putting that out there bc I know how tough it can be :).

Accepted!! Also got in Mount Vernon Campus Scholars… Does anyone know about the program? How is it?

Accepted to the Columbian College with a 25K/year scholarship!

34 ACT
102.15 W GPA
780 SAT II Biology M
IB Diploma Candidate
Both parents attended GWU

My daughters (twins) were both wait listed. They are fine with this. Knew they had a 50/50 chance with over 20,000 applicants. They did like the school and it was one of the last ones we toured. They both just got accepted to Smith. GWU and Smith decisions came out yesterday. And one of them applied to AU and was accepted.

Let me know if you have any questions! I attend GWU! Best place on Earth!

@camorange We did not tour GW as we were planning on doing so in April. Do you feel like you are on a college campus? Any insight on the vibe of the campus for those of us who haven’t visited would be much appreciated!

Son accepted to Engineering. $25k Presidential.
1500 / 4.3 w / 3.9 UW / 6 APs and rest accelerated. 2 varsity sports and decent ECs and community service.

@Topcat123 I do feel like I am on a college campus, but I also feel like I am part of a city at the same time which is the best of both worlds. The campus is pretty compact so it is not spread across the whole city. Everything is walkable (except for the Vern campus which has a speedy and convenient shuttle network) and I can walk to class in 10 minutes or under. I can also walk the streets of campus and see people I know, which was something I was originally worried I would not get since it isn’t a normal college campus. There is a real hub for the campus around Kogan Plaza. However, I love that the school is part of the city as well. In a 10 minute walk, I can get to the White House or the Mall which is always an awesome and surreal place to go on a pretty day or to hang out with friends. I also work downtown at a Smithsonian Museum which I can bike to in under 15 minutes. There is also a metro stop that was one block from my dorm which increases the accessibility of the city. Honestly, GWU does not have the typical, closed college campus, but that is what makes it special. It is similar to Northeastern, NYU, BU, or Drexel, if you have visited any of those (but cooler because this is DC). Being in downtown DC comes with many cool perks such as my dorm room had a view of the Lincoln Memorial at the end of the street and I constantly saw motorcades and Marine One pass by. GWU’s website has an interactive map of campus that I would check out.

@Amanda524 With Mount Vernon Scholars, you will live on the Vern campus (which is not a bad thing, hundreds of freshmen will be living on the Vern next year in fact) with a cohort of similar peers depending on which community you are in. It offers opportunities not available to other students such as special classes and events. I wasn’t in one and wasn’t really friends with anyone who was, but I have heard good things.

@zen333 I am in the Elliott School and would like to know the acceptance information, but alas, it is not available. I do know it is more selective than the university in general, however.

Hi all!!! I just got accepted to Elliot/honors program and was wondering if there are any Snapchat groups I could join??? (I don’t have insta). My @ is akaykay_02 and I’d love to talk with other admitted students :))

Hi everyone!
I was accepted into SMPA and the University Honors Program w/ a 24k Presidential Scholarship and I’m elated! I’m also wondering if there are any online groups I can join, can’t wait to meet everyone!
For reference:
1570 SAT
4.4 wGPA
10 APs (I received 5s on the 5 exams I have taken)
800 World History SAT, 800 Biology M SAT
Pretty good ECs (varsity sports, student government officer, president of volunteering club, MUN, etc.)
I didn’t write the optional supplement but I wrote supplements for the political communications major/SMPA and the honors program and I was really proud of all of my essays!

Hey @camorange, I was just accepted!
However, I’m considering transferring schools.
I’d like to transfer into Elliott… do you happen to know how difficult this is to do?

Accepted to the Columbian College with Presidential Academic Scholarship!!

Stats:
OOS Northern CA
3.7 uw 4.1 w
Applied test optional
10 IB courses
Strong EC’s, showed leadership, sports, lots of community involvement
Demonstrated interest - toured in spring of 2019

Well I was flat out rejected from George Washington but then was offered a guaranteed transfer at Boston University today for Fall 2021. I was also accepted to American on Tuesday.

I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty upset about this rejection. My stats were definitely in range, and I also thought I had good ECs and essays. I also felt that I showed a fair amount of interest. :frowning: Bummer!

waitlisted, 30 ACT and 4.0 GPA. kinda dissapointed

Remember, GW does NOT take interest into account
