@kd6410 hello! I would like to know GWU has pre-med or pre-health program for undergraduate students? and does it only allow art&science students to take?
@yuxiaooo Hi! we have a pre-med advising office, generally they will advise you on what courses to take, preparing for MCAT, etc. As far as I know, this is what most American universities have rather than a specific “program”. Also, one of my friends just co-founded a club specifically for preparing students for med school. They plan to offer free MCAT prep, guest speakers, etc. They have gotten some good funding for the university. Pre-med advising to available to everyone no matter your major.
Also, GW is really starting to jump start its STEM, and part of that plan is to overhaul and make better the pre med
@cannolicannoli Hi! The person who answered your question is pretty on it but I will elaborate more. Greek life is not a big deal at GW. Here we have different types of Greek life. Multicultural (cheaper to join, not as good houses, not big on throwing parties), Panhellenic (expensive, very nice housing, heavy alcohol and drug use), and service based (not expensive, service hour requirement, heavy drinking). There’s also professional frats but they are more like organizations almost.
The good thing about GW is that they do not bow to pressure from Greeks, since Greeks don’t really have power here. If a frat or sorority messes up they are punished appropiately. You definitely do not have to join Greek life to meet people, organizations and classes are sufficient enough.
If you ever get interested in Greek life I have some perspective. My roommate is in a service “fraternity” (even though there’s like 2 guys) that has about 150 people. This Greek org drink very, very heavily and I know there is cocaine usage as well.
My best friend here is in a Asian interest (but not exclusive) sorority (under multicultural branch). They rarely throw parties and I know there are people in that sorority that don’t drink at all, and some drink a lot. Usually it’s pretty calm but unfortuantely I think Greek life in general brings some toxicity and backstabbing. If you join any Greek life you will be very very busy during rush seasons.
Sorry for the long answer but short answer, you can definitely make friends outside of Greek life! Don’t worry about it!
Anyone want to chance me?

As the parent, I really hate the late date that acceptances will be sent out. We have already visited GWU, so we know D20 loves the very urban campus feel. If she winds up going there, I feel like we will be scrambling to book travel back to DC for any orientation dates and for move in.
@TwoHighSchoolers - I agree with you 100%. I thought that we should visit because this school has everything that DD20 wants but she was not sold because of the location and did not want to visit or apply…that is until the last minute when we were completing the common app and adding schools. She decided then that she wanted to add it so we didn’t get to visit. If she is accepted and get’s enough merit it will be a challenge because she attends Prep school in New England. She is home on Spring Break from March 12 - March 30th and we already have accepted students visits from one school scheduled during that time.
My daughter is a junior at GW and I recommend making the effort to visit if at all possible. She loves the university and has had great success there. Because of the location it has an absolutely crackling energy. I’d love to have gone to school here. But because it is an urban setting it looks very different from a suburban university and having a sense of what that means could really help make the decision.
Does anyone know when you think we’ll here back? I know it says early April, but that seems extremely late and not enough time to make a decision. Last year, people heard on March 21st, so could we here sometime around then maybe?
** Also, when I go into my CSS, it says award available March 25th. I wonder if that indicates anything?
@CMH2024 It’s by April 1st, so late March.
Hey my ig is @amayawalk can I be added?
Hi!
I’m not trying to spread false hope, but I’ve heard people use this trick for other colleges.
Try putting your name into their directory: https://my.gwu.edu/mod/directory/
not sure if this is for all applicants or a database for accepted students + staff, it might indicate whether or not u got in.
It worked for one college for me, but i tried in another college’s database which i was accepted into but my name didn’t pop up in theirs.
@plutorain - Did it work for you?
@plutorain @Sarrip That does not work. I searched for someone who got in ED and they did not show up.
@plutorain -That doesn’t work bc my S21’s name DID show up but he won’t be applying until next year! He’s a junior who will be visiting GWU and living on campus in July.
it worked for me.
and for some people who have gotten in i have searched their name and it doesnt pop up, while for others it did.
plus i have a pretty unique name + last name so…
im not sure
it’s weird because some people who have gotten in don’t pop up
while others do
thats weird! i wonder what’s going on
Hi everyone! I got accepted ED1 and have some experience with outstanding documents and an inability to pay enrollment fee (transferred to tuition). If you guys have any questions, my freshman friend, at GW rn and I as an incoming freshman might be able to help.

When I go to My Eligibility in GWeb it says Needs Review - Not Evaluated 2020. Is this bad or does that just mean they haven’t read my application yet.
** Also, I’m still missing some FA documents.
