GWU RD Class of 2024!

considering their spring break is next week, i’m think we should get an admission decision soon…on sunday undergrad admission posted that decision are coming soon so hopefully sometime this week…most likely tomorrow with SJT day being today…if not this week i guess we’re waiting till march 25z

They have never been released this early so I would say it’s pretty unlikely.

This is a top school for my daughter, but we all sure HATE the late admissions decision date. We are very anxious to find out if she has a spot, and, of course, if there is a decent financial aid package.

@2020senior12345 They’ve never released the same week as SJT. Tomorrow or anytime this week is pretty unlikely.

@izrk02 I went to last years thread and found that SJT was announced on the 19th and decisions were released two days later. I agree though that this week is too early.

@CMH2024 My bad on that one, I mixed up the dates of last year. This week is still too early though. They’re probably just doing the SJT early in case schools close in DC.

It’s odd that SJT day considering it’s never been this early we might be hearing back earlier than expected…GW is killing us with this wait time especially with their social media posts.

@izrk02 Good point

Last year they released RD 2 days after SJT day. Don’t want to get my hopes up, but maybe it’ll be soon?

Again, for everyone who didn’t see. SJT was very early this year compared to last. This is likely due to COVID-19 and the possibility of school closures (can’t have photo ops at schools if there aren’t any students). The deadline has always been “late March”.

So confused as to why they would post about decisions coming soon if they have no intention of releasing them soon. Will just have to be patient and ride it out

Keep into account that SJT day is also planned months if not a full school year in advance, as well as admission decision day. I could be completely wrong but it’s also weird that GW undergrad admission posted on Sunday that decisions were coming soon. Even with the coronavirus outbreak, big days like SJT day are hard to move because they have to discuss different factors such as time and location with each high school. Also, I think if they moved it because of COVID-19 from an original date they would make an announcement especially since its a day kids wait their entire lives for. There’s honestly no point in arguing about the details because will either find out this week or in 2 and us as students can’t do anything about it. It’s unfair that admissions is toying with us like this especially with their social media stuff. Either way, all we can do is hope for the best and try and keep our anxieties down until then.

Think about it like this though. ED2 was released on February 19th which was only 3 weeks ago. That’s probably not enough time for them to make decisions after that. Therefore, I don’t think we’ll hear anything this week. Even if they said soon, March 25th isn’t that far away and they did specifically state by the end of March.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if decisions come this week. Bowdoin sent an email yesterday saying their decisions will come out tomorrow. Maybe schools are trying to get them out earlier because of the virus?

That would be the prudent and humane thing to do. This process should no longer be viewed through a “marketing” lens to create clicks and drama. Families will need all the time they can get to evaluate FA and make this massive decision w/o the benefit of potential add’l visits and other programmed campus activities. The schools have these decisions already made–they should release ASAP as a matter of public service.

They probably have all the decisions now and are just waiting to release them. Soooo stressed

Can’t they just release ? we already don’t get to have days to revisit to help us with decisions, I feel like we deserve them early to have more time to consider our options

Y’all I really get this stress over decisions, but GW is in crisis mode right now, y’all gotta understand that. First, the whole thing with Leblanc, and now the virus and trying to house students. It’s taking a toll on all the staff. Admissions staff are likely working from home, they don’t want to have to deal with hundreds of calls and emails while not being at the office. If they were to release now, trying to deal with everything would likely be a nightmare. As much as I wish they would give us decisions ASAP, you have to see their point of view on this.

understand your point, but you’re make the assumption that GW doesn’t have these decisions made already–a week before they announce–and if that’s true then they have bigger problems than COVID-19 and the President. These decisions have been made and they are sitting on them. There’s no way they are still deciding on applications at this late date. While they may dealing with a lot of stuff, the easiest thing would be to release and get that over with so they can concentrate on their other self-inflicted wounds.

@PBJonRYE i get that they most likely have decisions made already. What I’m saying is that they likely don’t want to deal with the hundreds of frantic calls and email that result from admissions being released.
