GWU Transfer Thread 2010

Oh dang it is going to be a very long wait for me. Yeah I think I am gonna send in my deposit as well and withdraw from Syracuse where I sent a deposit in a couple weeks ago, yeah DC is great so I am looking forward to it.

Right on well glad I’ll know at least once other business admin transfer at least  I swear every single person I know at gw is there for government/IR haha.

Did anyone receive their transfer credit documents? If so, did it come with your packet or mailed separately? How man credits did they offer to transfer? Just curious. Thanks.

@ShaunMartin - It came with my packet and I was surprised to see they offered to transfer 84.9 credits for me. Sadly only half of those classes actually count towards degree requirements though :/

hahaha I know right? you are the only business major I have come across as well for gw

Kulakai–I’m Criminal Justice and Creative Writing…a rather weird combination.

Thanks Kulakai!

What were your stats? I am going to be applying as an undergraduate ED. I was just wondering how the transfers got in, too.

Congrats rcwhite

Sorry to see you go Will - good luck at AU!!

To accepted folks missing their GW ID’s, you can attempt to retrieve them at: [GWid - The George Washington University](<a href=“Accounts | GW Information Technology | The George Washington University”>http://gwid.gwu.edu/)

Accepted!

Does anyone know if they will send out a separate packet with financial aid information and transfer student orientation dates?

@SFtoDC - Congrats! It appears need based financial aid comes in a separate packet. You should probably call your academic advisor the moment after they get your deposit check to figure your courses out since I believe you can register the second your deposit is paid. Also make sure to join the facebook group :D

Here is what I found regarding orientation:
[Colonial Inauguration 2010 - The George Washington University](http://ci.gwu.edu/WhattoExpectatCI/transfers/)

It says orientation is Aug 25th-27th which is a few days before the semester starts. I hope to completely familiarized and settled in long before Aug 25th though since that seems so close to the first week of class.

@ Kulakai - ditto.

Thats great info on the registration piece - has anyone here registered or attemped to? it should show up in your GWeb once the option is available

I couldn’t be more excited. I’ll be heading to GWU next year. The financial aid package they offered me was leaps and bounds better than any other school I was accepted into (fordham, bu, syracuse)

Good luck to everyone!

Anyone here considering doing a study abroad through GWU? Just curious.

If I can complete my degree in 2 years, I won’t have time to do it. If they force me to do a third year then I guess I might as well.

Thanks Kulakai. How many credits did they accept that will go towards your degree? I assume that you’ll be doing a summer semester?

I’m registered for the fall and managed a much better schedule than I thought I would get but I pretty much have to do a few summer classes regardless. They essentially send you a transfer sheet showing what all of your transferable courses transfer over as, in my case it was 84.9 credits as they hadn’t gotten my official spring transcript yet.

From that pool of courses my academic advisor then took up to 60 credits worth and plugged them into my degree worksheet to try to fulfill as many of the degree requirements as possible. So in the end only 60 can transfer and go towards your degree.

Wow… Ok. Good to go. Thanks for the insight.
I’m getting my credit transfer sheet in the mail tomorrow. I’ve been told that they’re only going to accept ~24 credits. I’m going to push it to get this out of the way in two years. I’ll take summer courses as well.

At least 60 credits must be taken at GW to graduate also so keep that in mind.

I finally got my transfer credit worksheet in the mail  Does anyone know what the ‘VT’ stands for next to some of the courses? All the VT courses also don’t have a definite course number associated with them… for instance, JAPN 101 is listed as JAPN 099 …? Last year’s thread it stands for ‘variable topics’ …but Japanese 101 is Japanese 101, you know? They don’t pick a different topic each semester… I’ll call and ask probably
