at the last minute, i thought that i should include another supplement essay about one of the most important things about that were under-addressed in the rest of the app. about 600 words. will they like this or scoff at it? (now that they have FOUR 600-words to read)

I want to hear the answer to this question too. Good luck, banedon! May I ask where you are from?

Good luck to both of you…my personal non-professional answer is they won’t scoff at it…they seem like the kind of place that’s interested in you as a person…and they’d love to see a part of you not evident in the rest of your application

gian, i’m from the obscure country in south asia. ![]()
stacey i think so too, but i’m not too sure they’d like to read so long pieces. but then again i’ve heard people who write 1000+ and got in. BUT THEN AGAIN they might have strong other parts of their apps.

argh. i don’t know. just waiting for a kind angel to illuminate the path for us.

I think you love UChicago as much as I do. I’ve visited the campus over 10 times, and I fall in love with it more after each visit. I even took the ACT on campus, thinking that the environment could somehow affect my score for the better. I truly love the University.

gawd i love it too. lucky you for getting to visit. i hv to rely on the website and boards like this. and contrary to what others say that sending your app early shows you love it more, i take that time to polish everything to SHOW them how much i love the school.

hey banedon, what’s your first name? (only if you don’t mind me asking). my friend, who’s supposed to be a permanent resident of the US, hasn’t gotten her green card yet after six years of living here. she’ll probably apply as an international student like you. she’s also of South Asian descent (Indian). I wonder which “obscure” country in South Asia you are coming from?

There are not too many current applicants active on the UChicago board, it seems.

I’m sending in an extra essay; I’m pretty sure it will make my application a lot stronger, though.

gianscolere, you might want to PM banedon- I think a lot of people don’t like to post personal info. Beware of lurking adcoms, lol. :)
