Haha, chances?

Sorry, I know you guys get a zillionnn bajillion of these:

Okay, I’ve visited Tufts and I’ve loved it, and I know it’s a unique place and all that, but is there anything specific/ individual/ characteristic that anyone can tell me about Tufts that would be useful for interviews, etc?

Just to be aware of, which I’ll note on my application, I was diagnosed with crohn’s disease when I was in 9th grade, and I came very close to having fatally low levels of iron and other nutrients. This affected my grades somewhat in 9th and 10th grade, because I was missing tons of school.

SATs: 2000/2400 (this was like, top 13% I think)
SAT II scores haven’t come back yet
My school does not have a system of class ranking.
I hope to study biology.

Thaaaaaaanks! =]

Eighth grade doesn’t play a role whatsoever.

And we’d need your GPA as well as an idea of where you rank in your class – even if there’s no class ranking, schools are required to send a class profile to universities so that those colleges have an idea of how you compare to your classmates. For example, my h.s. didn’t rank but sent the highest, lowest, and average grade for every single course I took so that schools could tell how I did in my classes compared to my peers.

Sorry I just re-read your post and you have your GPA for each h.s. year. It seems you’re in good shape – especially if those are all unweighted. Is that the case?

Are you applying ED or RD? What do you want to study? If you think Tufts is a great, unique place and you want to apply here, why is that? Surely you don’t need us to give you formulaic answers. If you really can’t think of anything, read through the admissions website, the Tufts website (especially E-News) to get an idea.

I just put eighth cause I took high school credits in those years- they’re on my transcript.

You probably didn’t notice cause I don’t have one listed for senior year, since the first quarter hasn’t ended yet.

RD. But I have no idea what it means to have a weighted or unweighted GPA. =/

Thanks bunches for your help =]

if u don’t know what weighted gpa is, then ur gpa is unweighted. I think you have a pretty good chance.

Unweighted means you don’t get any extra points if you’re taking Honors or AP classes.

I am beyond lazy and do not want to type up my list again, so just look at this thread for some interview stuff:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=214917

Oh, we get more points for AP but not honors. I’m not sure if that’s weighted or not, but I think not because when I calculated mine, it was different.

Our long standing tenure at CC more than warrants laziness. I honestly cannot find the energy to type long posts anymore because I’ve said the same things over and over again as the admission cycle begins anew. I’ll just let lolabelle do it all :)

Haha thanks, guys. :-)

I think you have a good chance of getting accepted, BrightSilverRain. Write a great “Why Tufts?” essay!
