Hi guys! I don’t know if it’s just a thing at my school, but most people I know just have that one school that they spontaneously added to their list last minute, and just chucked their application in hoping for the best. I don’t know how many of you are out there, but I thought it would be interesting to bring us all together in one place. We can talk about reaches, but any last minute toss ups are welcome!
I’ll start- I have yet to hear from my reaches (oh boy is my Stanford app a risky, wild ride) but the school that I applied to quite randomly, Saint Anselm, actually accepted me! Anybody else hear back from hail marys/impulse applications yet?
A waste of the time and resources of so many people. Just apply to your fit schools.
My D threw in Fordham Lincoln Center as it was a freebie with no additional essay. Was definitely not a long shot school but she got in EA with a massive merit award (north of 30k) and an invitation to be one of 16 in their honors program. It went from a why not to this looks really interesting. You never know!
Veryapparent: Would love to know more about your D’s stats… My D is a junior and Fordham is on our radar, especially because of its merit awards. Thanks!
University of Buffalo. Didn’t want to apply, parents made me. Was invited to apply for their Presidential Scholarship, didn’t want to do that either (it was over my Christmas break, tired of application stuff, etc.) Selected as semi-finalist, then won.
