What volume shampoo do you use for color treated hair? What do you love? Also, what other products do you use for volume and body?

I use Aveda products

I have thick hair, but it is straight as a board and flat as a pancake. I use Pantene Sheer Volume shampoo, but what really helps is Paul Mitchell Extra Body root lifter. It has a purple top. I haven’t tried the shampoo from that line. I also use Sebastian Shaper Plus hairspray for a little umph without being too stiff.

Well Cc was too busy so it lost my post. :stuck_out_tongue:
Be sure you are not using products with heavy waxes or silicones.
Silicone especially can be hard on your hair.
When I used to color my hair, I slept with jojoba oil on it, every other week or so.
Adding moisture to your hair reduces frizz and improves curl/ body.
I use Liggett bar shampoo or Alaffia shea butter shampoo and orange geranium lotion.
I wouldn’t ordinarily need to wash my hair often, but I go swimming almost every day.
Sometimes I just rinse it and rub the hair lotion through.

It smells really good!

L’Oreal sulphate-free.

I use It’s a Ten Miracle Leave-in Product. I spray it on my hands and distribute it on my hair. I have mixed-texture hair (wavy sections and straight) that I blow dry. This stuff makes it easy to handle and I don’t need any other styling product. It doesn’t seem to build up like some other volumizers do.

I have keratin treated hair so have to use sulfate free. I also like Aveda products, with the L’oreal Sulfate free as a second choice. The container for the l’oreal, though, didn’t hold up well. It is kept upside down (like a toothpaste tube with lalt top) but the shampoo went all into the cap. Was messy.

I use the Deva Curl line. I have curly, thinning, middle-aged, formerly blond hair that I highlight to hide the gray. This brand is sulfate free, but there are lots of those on the market. The key to preserving color, though, is not to wash your hair every day.

I use shampoo and conditioner by Goldwell called Dual Senses --fade stopping shampoo and detangling conditioner. They are separate products. The trick I find is to not use anything heavy or scented on my hair. These types of products in my experience cause my hair to become flat and dirty quickly. For good body, I’ve been having fun trying to blow-dry my hair following some videos on the drybar website. D2 has had her hair done there and they do a great job with volume. I don’t use any of the products, though!

Massmomm- Who ever knew that hair thinned at middle age? I am constantly humbled by things I never knew about middle age.

I switch between Aveda products and Pureology. Like them both!

My hairdresser says you need to shampoo twice then you don’t have to wash it often, I have found this to be true. So if your products are expensive you don’t use them as often. I had chemo, and hence curly hair, it is still wavy 4 years later and I d have to use product in my hair.

I’m going to try that, dte. I only wash every other day now, but would like to wash even less often. I use sulfate free products because I get keratin treatment on my bangs as well as color.

I use AG Colour Savour Shampoo and Conditioner. My hair has a lot of body so that’s not a concern, but it has good reviews on the Beauty Brands website. I wait for their annual liter sale for the price to be more affordable!

…

I have thick, fine, absolutely straight hair and in the winter it has zero moisture and tends to be flat. Even my gray hairs are fine and flat without a wave to be found. Frizz would be welcome in my world. I found the Neutrogena moisture shampoo and conditioner to make my hair not so lifeless. While damp I put a small dollop of Paul Mitchell ExtraBody Thicken Up Styling Liquid and rub it through my entire head of hair and then let my hair dry. I have never used a dryer (since my hair is straight). I wash my hair every 2-3 days in the winter. In the summer I still wash my hair every day generally because I swim almost every day in the summer and it’s more humid so my hair isn’t so flat and dry.

I use L’Oreal products also.

Last year I experimented and went shampoo free for 6 months. Yes, I washed my hair, but I just used water and sometimes a very-diluted vinegar rinse. My hair stayed clean, but it was difficult to style so I went back to using sulfate-free shampoo. Bonus - my eczema totally cleared up.

A friend gave me a bottle of Wen shampoo-less conditioner as a Christmas gift. I gave it a try, and so far I like the result! I find that Kerastase volumizing spray does wonders for my straighter-than-the-shortest-line-that-connects-2-points hair! :)

I’ll have to give that Kerastase spray a whirl and see how it works. I just want some volume for my fine, flat but thicker head of hair.

@fireflyscout What’s the shampoo that you use that clears up your eczema? I have a bad case of it on my arms, the back of my knees, and eyelids.
