Hall of fame voting..no baseball fans?

Are you trying to trick me? If I say Garvey is in, you will say Mattingly and Clark are in too. :)

So…no.;)

It is hard because the offensive numbers for Garvey say no but the era of baseball was different then. It is going to be unfair for some players.

I am looking at Clark’s career and it was pretty damn good. How come Clark couldn’t muster 5 percent of the vote?

I would choose Clark over Mattingly and Garvey, but I am biased.:)

[Steve Garvey or Will Clark?](<a href=“Steve Garvey or Will Clark? - Baseball Fever”>Steve Garvey or Will Clark? - Baseball Fever)

I love those kind of sport discussions. Baseball is the best sport to do that with. I remember NY sports radio having entire shows going round and round about Mattingly, Hernandez and Clark.

Here is one for you- who was better Ripken or Murray?

My initial reaction is Ripken. I am going to go with Ripken.

Guidry a hall of famer?

Check baseball reference- Murray is off the charts. Will Clark deserves much better consideration- I say he is better than many in the hall.

Guidry had some good years one which was off the charts but to me he is like Koosman good but not hall of fame good.
Seaver, Carlton, Gibson, Marichal, Pedro they are hall of fame pitchers

Hall of fame shouldn’t be solely based on longevity. Of course those who play longer will have better overall stats than someone who played less time. I look at it this way…was the HOF candidate one of the best players of his time…

Does a career .280 hitter who played 18 seasons with 3,000 hits more deserving than a player who played only 10 years, yet was dominant for those 10 years?

Has voting come down to those who were fortunate enough not get injured and miss time or have career shortened?

Biggio? 20 years, 3060 hits, .281 career average, had 1 200 hit season and 1 25 HR season…sorry Craig, you are not a hall of famer.

Tom1944, I agree with your 5 pitchers.

Murray did have a great career, and he should be and is in the hall, but Ripken was a shortstop, so I am staying with Ripken…

Guidry is borderline to me. He had a 9 year stretch where he had the most wins in the AL.

I think Jack Morris should get in…I hope he does.

You changed my mind on Will Clark. I think Clark should be in the hall. I don’t know how many writers he ****ed off.

And Biggio is a second basemen. He had some awesome years too.

I have to go now. It was fun.

Geeps I am torn by the guy who compiles stats. Some are not great but there is a magic number 3000 hits is a magic number.

How about Chipper Jones-or as we Met fans know him Larry. To me he is a sure thing but will not have 500home runs, 3,000 hits or the magic RBI number

^ I don’t think 3,000 hits should be a magic number…check out Biggio’s last 6 years…

Interesting article

[Why I’ll never vote for a known steroids user for the Hall of Fame - MLB - Tom Verducci - SI.com](http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20130108/hall-of-fame-ballot-steroids-mark-mcgwire-barry-bonds-roger-clemens/?sct=hp_t12_a3&eref=sihp)

Nice article lololu.

Steroids helped hundreds of players climb up the ladder of baseball success…from high school ball to college ball to the minor leagues to the majors and to the Major League All Star Team. But at least for now it will keep them out of the Hall of Fame.

Many players have described how steroids improved their game. It must have seemed to them like they were playing against little leaguers. I don’t know of a single Hall of Famer who has gone on record to welcome the steroid users into their circle.

Cooperstown will manage and plan to get ready for the day when five or six new inductees come to town in the near future.
