Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus

I want to see the Lucy! And I LOVE Ms. Frizzle. D (sr in high school) is going to a party after ballet, just adding a tutu and wings to be a fairy.

Pirate (a la Captain Jack Sparrow). She went trick-or-treating for UNICEF with a group on campus which decided on a pirate theme last week; thank goodness, she had already wanted to be a pirate, and I had made the costume and mailed it to her. I would have been a bit peeved if I’d made the costume and then a different theme was chosen!

No teens left at our house - and a very quiet Halloween on our street. Neighbors who usually do a haunted house are out of town so no creepy music and fog to lure kids off the main drag. That and it’s Wednesday night. Here in the South that means lots of kids are at church youth group meetings/parties instead of roaming the streets.
H just melted some chocolate bars and dipped strawberries, since we have a ton left. We’ll put the rest of the candy on the porch with a “Please just take one” sign, turn out the lights, pour a little glass of red wine and fool ourselves that chocolate-dipped strawberries qualify as a fruit-and-vegetable serving. Empty nest can be quite nice!

D and her pack dressed as fairies. Very cute, and not too hot in our warm weather.

Not sure what S did. I know there were halloween activities at his college, but haven’t had a report yet.

Anyone here familiar with the “Baker 15” tradition at Rice U? Briefly, on the 15th and the 30th of the month (except in Oct they usually do it on the 31st, around the Night of Decadence party, and usually get the biggest participation on Halloween) some dedicated fools go streaking wearing strategically located shaving cream. They say that you should do it at least once in your 4 years of college at Rice. Well, DS#1 is a senior. He’s never done it. I overheard him talking to DS #2. Sounded like he might be considering a brief participation. Too much information!

My kids and their theater friends are all dressed up in the costumes they wore for the play that just wrapped up last week. They each have on black clothing, covered by a long colored robe/vest. They’re all trick-or-treating together.

D1 was dressed as an anime character and going out with a group from her school.

my 19 year old sister dressed as little red riding hood.

My 17-year-old is Janis Joplin and her boyfriend is Bob Dylan; they’re out trick or treating with a group of friends. I don’t think she will EVER give up trick-or-treating. I can’t wait to see what goodies she brings home. hee hee

Son refused to dress up, but on Saturday my husband was Angel and I was Drusilla.

ldgirl is at the best college Halloween party ever invented down on Franklin Street at UNC dressed like the rock 'n roll Moulin Rouge girl in the Killers video “Mr. Brightside”. (And I mean exactly…my mom actually made a replica of the dress for her…)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnwLf88t_Wc

She was a wee bit worried people are gonna ask her to flip her skirt though. I told her ‘none of that now’. ;)

The teen is a zebra. A really cute looking zebra. The younger girl is a sparkly devil.

My teens were a hippie (15 yr.old D), and a nerd (13 yr. old S). The little ones were a toxic scientist (12 yr. old S) and a Cheetah Girl (10 yr. old D…she and her best friend wore matching outfits).

The weather was perfect (65 to 70 degrees) and we had tons (I mean hundreds) of trick-or-treaters!

It was hard to go to school this morning!

3 teenagers–one (19) skipped the Halloweeen party at his college to play video games (grrr. . .). One (age 14) stayed home and recorded the number of trick-or-treaters. One (16-no costume) escorted 3 little sisters who were two cowgirls (ages 5 & 8) and a cow (age 3), and little bro.(11) who wore a hideous rubber monster mask with a gray sheet.

ZS college had each corridor do a haunted house and then kids from the community came to trick or treat and be scared. ZG was a witch and those girls put a huge effort into making things nice for the kids. I was proud as heck.

oldest went to a parade in nYC and was punky brewster (flapper the other night)

younger went trick or treating with a friend and friends little brother ( the excuse to go out) she was a sailer (will the girlie kind of sailer

TallSon (high school sophomore) went to school wearing: emerald green tights, Converse sneakers, black cycling shorts, a white t-shirt, a red-and-white-striped beach towel as a cape, and his trademark bicycle helmet with spangled dealy-boppers taped on the sides with duct tape. His costume? He is a superhero named “Stupendo Bug-O-Man.” He said that when some boys made fun of his tights his response was, “I’m Stupendo Bug-O-Man, and superheroes don’t care what people think of their uniforms.” I love this boy.

Sounds like Tallson has retained something from the excellent literature of ‘Calvin and Hobbes’. We still have a Stupendous Man hood that we made about 10 years ago.

I love the sound of Tallson’s confidence and sense of identity.
Duh, of course, superheros don’t care what people think.
