Halloween Costume Ideas

<p>Looking for suggestions. Going to a Halloween party and creativity is not one of my strengths. Homemade, creative, inexpensive…appropriate for a woman of a ‘certain age’! Any thoughts?</p>

<p>I once screenprinted quotes from Freud and his photo on a white slip and wore it over black tights and leotard as a Freudian Slip. I dyed pink one is also easy to do. </p>

<p>I have a witch’s costume that I combine with beach attire and carry a black pail of sand (sand witch). It gets a laugh. </p>

<p>Basically, I find a silly pun and go for it.</p>

<p>Dress like you are going to dinner at Downton Abbey and then wear bread on your head.</p>

<p>Another one - more elaborate and perhaps inappropriate but it made me laugh. Get a cardboard box and with paint, markers, glued on paper, whatever, make it look like a little chest of drawers. Glue gun to the top an old clock, water cup, box of tissues, etc. Hole in the top for your head, wearing a lampshade. You are one night stand.</p>

<p>I love the one night stand, but my rule of Halloween costumes (after being Yin and dh being Yang) was that costumes must be comfortable.</p>

<p>I like the one where I wore all black put a couple of stripes of electrical tape vertically down the middle of me and then sewed some black match box cars to be a road. If you want to be a freeway make more lanes and use green posterboards and stick on letters to make a highway sign you can wear like a crown.</p>

<p>One year I pinned a large letter “P” to my shirt, painted a black circle around one eye and went as a black-eyed pea. Easy peasy.</p>

<p>Chambray/Denim shirt. Sleeves rolled up. Jeans, belted. Shirt tucked in. Aunt-Jemima-inspired head scarf/bandana. Work shoes/boots. Maybe carry a drill/tool. Maybe an embroidered “R” on chest pocket.</p>

<p>If you are going to be Rosie be sure to pluck your eyebrows and redden up those lips!</p>

<p>I bought a box of “Hello, my name is…” stickers, filled them in with different names and went as an identity crisis.</p>

<p>Also, made assign that said Nudist On Strike and went fully clothed. Took people a minute to get it but easy and comfortable.</p>
