Halls

To the current UF students:
could you please comment on the following halls.

Trusler

Graham

Yulee

North

Reid

East

Hume

Weaver

Tolbert

Murphree

GatorWell

Broward, Lakeside, Hume.

Which hall would you recommend for students that prefer studying over partying? Vice verse? Combination of both? Etc. etc. etc.

Well Hume is an honors dorm, so that is definitely for the more studios. Is GatorWell a dorm? Lakeside is super far. None of these dorms are really that great. You should check out Windsor Hall, they have private bathrooms and it’s close to where your classes are. Broward is notorious as the party dorm. I don’t know much about Yulee or Graham. Buckman is in a pretty good location, near midtown, the stadium and the library but it doesn’t have air conditioning. However, you can just purchase like an air unit for your room and its’ the same.

Trusler – It’s nice but down the hill so a little bit of an extra walk to get where you want to go. But overall nice.

Graham – Great location and you have the Graham Oasis. Nice.

Yulee – Stay away. Gross and old.

North – N/A

Reid – I lived here over SUmmer. Nice place. Location is good. Rooms are really old and kind of gross sometimes. Bug problem… Only live here if Art/Education major. ANd they only have 3 washer/dryers. WIll take HOURS to do laundry.

East – I currently live here. Highly recommend it. Great location. Very quiet. Bonus of Peer Mentors in addition to the RA’s. Very nice and updated.

Hume – Overpriced. It’s great and very new but overall it’s the most expensive dorms on campus and a little bit of a hike up the hill to get where you want to go.

Weaver – International house. Most residents are from another country but nice. Same as East basically.

Tolbert – Highly recommend. If you want to get involved and be a part of a family atomosphere, do Tolbert. You will definitely make friends for life with MudFest and all.

Murphree – It’s ok. Location is good proximity to Business School, LibWest and Chem… It’s older but roomier and cozy.

GatorWell – NOT A DORM. I’m going to assume you mean Jennings Hall and NO. Don’t Do it.

Broward, Lakeside, Hume. (You already asked about Hume) DOn’t do Lakeside unless you really want a room to yourself. It’s nice and great proximity to RecCenter but if you are going to be that far away you might as well live off campus at a cheaper price. Broward sucks. SUCKS. Don’t do it.

Which hall would you recommend for students that prefer studying over partying? Vice verse? Combination of both? Etc. etc. etc.

If you really want a quiet academic focused dorm do one of the lviing learnign communites such as east or trusler.

Can a non honor program student live at Hume?

No. To live in the Hume you must be an Honors Program Student.

I heard jennings and broward were fun maybe not the newest bu tthey were renovated i heard- anyone know???

[Luxury UF Dorms - The BEST Dorms for UF Students - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

This video makes it sound like Luxury dorms (Ivy Hall, for example) are CHEAPER than non-luxury ones. How could that be? Anyone?

Also, ufgator18 and GatorGRIK, thank you much for your detailed responses! You helped me a lot!!

DO NOT GOT TO IVY HOUSE OR WINDSOR HALL " AKA THE LUXURY DORMS "!!

They are overpriced and terrible. I have several friends who live in these particular dorms and have had terrible experiences…

BIG CORRECTION: Non-honor students CAN live in Hume if there are free spaces. However, is the most expensive dorm so might want to consider that.

I applied yesterday for housing as a freshman. For summer B my top 3 choices were Murphee, Yulee, and Rawlings. My top 3 for fall/spring were Murphee, Mallory, and Broward. I designated hall type as my most important factor in rooming.

I have read a lot of forums about uf housing but I’m still unsure what I should pick. I’m kinda of a quiet person but I am trying to be more outgoing and social. I have heard that broward and Jennings are the most social dorms but I’m worried that by social they mean partiers. I don’t mind communal bathrooms but i dont really want to be sharing bathrooms with people that spend most of their time puking their guts out all the time. That’s just not fun. To the people that have know about broward and Jennings, is this a valid concern? Am I just suffering from am irrational fear? Also how do people feel about Rawlings and yulee/Reid? Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated:)

Any advice would be great!!
