Hamilton the musical

I wish those three ladies would record some three part tunes.

Well Hamilton finally trickled down to West Texas. D21 and I listen to it every day while in the car to school.

It’s happeninggggg!!! The school where I teach was chosen for that grant to bring kids in Title I schools to go see Hamilton. Crossing my fingers that I get to chaperone, but pretty much every other teacher also wants to go :frowning:

How do chaperone decisions get made, @rebeccar?

No idea! I think they’re taking the 11th grade social studies classes, so they might choose to take all the 11th grade teachers (me!) or else all the social studies teachers, or people might just be assigned randomly. But despite the excitement, I got into Hamilton with my boyfriend and it’d be bittersweet to get to go but not with him. If it were the other way around and he went without me, I wouldn’t be able to help feeling jealous.

@rebeccar Well, sometimes you just have to “suffer” for your work! I’m sure he’ll understand but your thoughtfulness is wonderful.

Wow… some of the ticket stories are wild! I feel very fortunate. D and I received a pair of tickets as a gift from someone who couldn’t use them… so we saw it in NYC in early July, just days before most of the original cast departed the show. I’d be more than happy to see it again, though! It was really wonderful and lived up to all the hype.

@cameo43 You have a VERY generous friend.

@doschicos : It wasn’t even a friend… it was my realtor! I think she felt badly that it was taking her so long to find me a buyer…

In case anyone is interested, I just got an email notification that a new block of tickets to Hamilton in Chicago had been released on ticketmaster on performances through Jan 2018.

Just got tickets for the Friday after Thanksgiving. We’ll only be 3 hours away. Christmas - Done!

we are going to hamilton in early april in chicago. i really dont know much about it all; have listened to the music a few times. Is there something i should do to catch up on my history before seeing the show? isnt there a PBS special about it to watch? any pre-show thoughts so we can appreciate it all the more would be appreciated~~

@bgbg4us I’d recommend pick this book up.

I bought tickets for the April 2018 show in Houston. D has every word memorized in the songs that made it to the play and the ones that did not.

D scheduled her internship in DC to be able to come home for Hamilton. Our tickets are for August in L.A. DH is reading Chernow’s book. I guess I’m lagging.

It seems like the Chicago ticket price point was very reasonable (relatively speaking). I had a pair of orchestra seats in my cart this morning that were $172 each, which was a steal compared to what we paid for face-value tickets in NYC. I reluctantly let them go as I just purchased 4 season tickets that include Hamilton for Orange County in 2018 :(.

@lilmom - The pantages site says tickets are not on sale yet. How do you have tickets for LA in August?

@westcoastmomof2 - Thanks for the reminder! I had completely forgot I was going to look into season tickets. Just purchased them so I get to see Hamilton for sure in May 2018! (I am still hoping for before that when it comes to LA).

@ClaremontMom, Hamilton is one of the shows included in the 2016-17 season ticket package.

@lilmom. After I posted that (and bought season tickets for Costa Mesa for the same reason), I realized that might be the case.

We saw Hamilton on Saturday 2/25 in NY. It was my son’s Christmas present as he is part of the club that knows every single word to the songs. I have never seen a bigger smile on his face than when the show started. My favorite character was the King - he was hysterical.
