Hamilton the musical

Thanks everyone for your advice! I’ll report back

It was amazing!! The best show we’ve ever seen on Broadway!! thanks to all for the advice on this

Glad to hear! We are going at the end of March. I cannot wait.

Tomorrow is my Hamilton day!!! Ahhh – can’t wait!

Tuesday we will be at Hamilton in Chicago! Can’t wait either! Nice distraction for a college visit road trip.

@intparent – So how was Hammie?

Maybe I’ll get to see it before I die.

@LoveTheBard Amazing, of course! I found it interesting to see who was singing. I’ve listened to the soundtrack a ton of times, but there are a few spots where I didn’t realize who was singing a specific line. I did not generally feel the urge to sing along – I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to resist (of course I wouldn’t do it), but it wasn’t hard after all not to.

Just got the tickets to Hamilton for Washington DC this summer! A bit of a lottery for the on line ticket line but it ran pretty smoothly. i hope the touring cast is as good.

I was also lucky to get tickets at the Kennedy Center! When I was first assigned a place in the virtual queue, I was sure we were out of luck; we had to wait 5+ hours to get to the front of the line, and were happy to score. There were lots of complaints about the ambiguous instructions and the fact that longtime members were treated the same as new ones (which may have caused successful bots), but it worked as expected for the most part.

DD and I are going in August to Chicago to see it. Can’t wait! I guess I should start listening to the music to get ready.

We saw the Chicago production in 2016. It was amazing and had no members of the original cast. Do not hesitate to go. It’s truly great.

No members of the OBC are still in the show, anywhere!

As I’ve said before, the show is the ‘star’, not a particular actor. It’s a wonderful theatre experience. Enjoy!

I was shocked (and pleasantly surprised) the other day when my receipt came for my 2018-2019 theatre subscription and Hamilton is included in the series! I thought it would be that subscribers only get first dibs on tkts - which is common for several shows a season at this theatre.

It was an add on for subscribers in Seattle, you are lucky. Just a few days after seeing it, some friends and I went to see Mama Mia! All of us had seen Hamilton in the previous week. And while we enjoyed the Mama Mia! production, we admitted to each other afterwards that we had been spoiled by Hamilton, and couldn’t help thinking about that during the show.

Whether or not a particular show is part of the subscription package will depend largely on your local theatre producer. Some will have the ability/experience/power to negotiate it as part of their subscription for season subscribers and some will not.

@intparent I can only imagine seeing Mamma Mia a week after Hamilton. Mamma Mia is fluff theatre at its best, and Hamilton is not only at the other end of the theatre spectrum, it’s on a different spectrum!

Yes — we knew that going in, but it was still kind of jarring.

@MusakParent Hope you enjoyed Hamilton! Alex Gemignani (King George) participated in a staged reading of “The Woman in Question” at Northwestern in December. The rest of the cast was theatre/voice students.

Hi sadly I was never able to see Hamilton before Miranda departed but we will be in NYC in a few weeks and I can get Hamilton tickets. Is the production very different?

Thanks @momzhood ! It was super fabulous! We loved it! King George was my favorite. What an amazing opportunity for those students.
