Hamilton

Yes, I agree with @alwaysamom about Allegiance. I saw the last regional production. It’s mostly the same cast on Broadway, with some reworking. Recommend!

Seeing Hamilton and Spring Awakening in November. Can’t wait!

My D saw it when it was at The Public Theater. She even got to meet the cast. She told us it was phenomenal! So now my husband and I want to see it and wouldn’t you know it? She wants to come too? Smh. Lol!

did anyone else notice the page turn on the soundtrack?? I’m obviously obsessed.

NYU had a special lottery (no idea how many tix in the group) and D won!!! She will be seeing it (again) next Thursday SO JEALOUS!!!

@toowonderful, I am so jealous too! This show is #1 on my list, but tickets through the brokers are extremely expensive right now. I am not familiar with the theater - are the “worst” seats OK? At $300 per, I’m weighing whether it’s worth it…

OK, you folks are convincing me to try to get tix – will have to look at 2016 dates. How can I be reasonably sure that LMM will be playing Hamilton for a particular performance - other than an illness situation, of course? I see that some Wed. matinees have tix available but wonder if the understudy might be taking on the role? Would really like to see LMM in it.
(Want to try for tix via box office – reluctant to pay up via a broker.)

UPDATE: Decided to act – Got tix for a Wed. matinee in early March.

Javier Munoz does Sunday matinees, unless something has changed. No guarantee about changes in the future. He is wonderful, by the way.

I received this email today. I wish that every show would do this!!

^ Also no intermission, so allow pee time before the show.

Oh I wouldn’t make it! lol!! but true!!

It’s a “fairly” short show (1:45) - I made it through with no need for bathroom break - and I am usually the one rushing at intermission! The show is in the round, and to reach certain sections you have to walk on the state (which is kind of cool) that is why they are so strict on seating

Yes, and they request that no one get up to leave during the show so make sure you go before you are seated!

Just popping in here to say … I just listened to the soundtrack. Several times.

Holy crap.

Just insanely awesome.

I can’t get over how mindblowing this is.

Great Buzzfeed piece today:

D said it was even better the 2nd time. And the cast (esp Lin) was incredibly gracious at stagedoor

trying to get tickets for this as a surprise…ugh…any suggestions? as of now, nothing under $300…and nothign until late Spring 2016. The resell market is astronomical. My friends daughter won $10 tickets in the lottery…only 12 names pulled out of 500 entries…lol…

DVCmember, I feel your pain. When we bought tickets earlier this month for our spring break trip, there was nothing under $300 except for a few random single seats all the way in the corners, and that wasn’t the way we want to experience the show as first-time visitors to NYC and Broadway. The lottery wasn’t an option for us either because we’ll be a group of 3, so we just bit the bullet and bought the $300 seats…and resolved that the rest of our tickets for the trip will be bought according to whatever can be had at a good day-of discount at TKTS.

@muttsandMT , oh yes…for a first time visitor like you to NYC I wouldnt suggest that. I am fortunate that I live close enough to go often…but getting a ticket for this one is going to be a thorn in my side until I get it. As for TKTS, you will be surprised what you will be able to get there for other shows…also don’t discount out going straight to the box office of a show you might want to see that day, many times performers reserved tickets for friends and families become released that day. but again…Im not talking about for Hamilton, lol…you did the right thing just purchasing those tickets in advance.

Four days a week my daughter’s classes are a 7 minute walk from Richard Rogers Theatre but they end at 6 PM which is too late for the lottery. Three times this semester she randomly got out of class in time to throw her name in and it has been a “no.” So when the subject of out-of-towners getting lucky enough with those lottery tickets, I’m pretty sure laser beams shoot out of her eyes slicing anything that she glances at in half and the world switches to slow motion as she says in a deep sounding voice, “nooooooooooo.”

I am one of those out-of-towners actually in NYC right now as in tonight a short subway ride from where I’m staying, there was a very lucky person sitting in my seat. The heck with her although the universe took care of me sufficiently to avoid my having to make a “Sophie’s Choice” with my lottery (non)winnings. Would have been a really close call and there was that 62+ hours of labor I often remind her about when she is bugging me.
