I honestly believe that you won’t regret your decision. Hopefully, your dad will be there in August to help you move in. If he doesn’t walk away caught up in the spirit of Duke, his and your new Duke family, and a newfound respect and admiration for the university and all it has to offer, he’s a tough one.

As August approaches and if you remember, please send me a PM. My sons will be FACs (help you move in, guide you through orientation and your first semester, etc). I’ll put you in touch with them before you move in!

Congratulations! Our son was a FAC last year; don’t be shy about contacting proudinnj. I’d suggest you contact our son, but he will be studying overseas next fall. I trust your Duke experience will be something you will always value, and I hope that your father will enjoy the ride, too.

Please convey the following to you dad:
braap-dad: Welcome to the extended Duke family. (You can relax: we don’t have chants and handshakes and the like…really) If you have any questions or concerns with about which another Duke parent could be helpful, please feel free to contact me via private message or email.

If name is something your dad is concerned about, in the real world, Duke=Penn in that regard.
Especially, if you are not from the Northeast.
Congrats to all the new Blue Dev’12s!

FACs = sophomores, juniors, and seniors who help you move in and then stick around during orientation week to help you get used to the campus/show you where your classes will be/answer questions, etc.

im blue…Many people on this forum have repeatedly stated that that chart is flawed and surveyed disproportionately large number of students from the NE…I’m not saying that this is true or that stat is wrong, but take it with a grain of salt.

im_blue, I wonder how many of those are for wharton though. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if 90% + the wharton/duke cross admits chose Wharton, but I’d be highly surprised if over 50% of every non-Wharton admit chose Penn.
