What’s the best hands-on aerospace engineering school overall?

If you’re talking about actually working on aerospace systems and technologies, the US Air Force Academy is probably up there.

one of the embry-riddle campuses.

CalPoly SLO

Take a serious look at http://www.wichita.edu/thisis/home/?u=aero_eng … their hands on programs are pretty impressive. NIAR is based there, they have a wind tunnel on campus - if you do research they will compete and the price is affordable even for OOS.

Wright State University and U Dayton. Internships with the Air Force Research Labs.

I went to ER-Prescott (Aero Engineering) and can tell you that the program is very theory-based, and rigorous. The only “hands-on” experience involved the usual labs (physics, chemistry, materials, etc), as well as the senior project which was a mix of theory (preliminary design), and constructing (detail design).

That said, it is a fantastic school and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in Aerospace Engineering.
